Just Off the Highway | Funny legend of the giant horse on Bloemfontein's Naval Hill

Ойын-сауық

In the city centre of Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa is the Naval Hill nature reserve. During the Anglo-Boer War, British forces laid out a giant, stone horse on the hill. This has been preserved as a monument and has gathered its own local legend.

The "horizontal refreshments" gave me a laugh. 😃 Keep it up Al, by the way, the naval guns were taken from RN ships secondary batteries, probably 6" guns, the gun carriages were a lash up, but worked well. The RN crews came with the guns. These naval guns provided the British army with the only heavy fire power they had at the time.

Thanks! Fascinating that even the British were forced to improvise and adapt.

A mutually respectful half hour relationship 🤣🤣🤣 Absolute classic!!!! Maybe the galloping horse is a damsel fleeing from a botched tinder photo?
