I love how K-pop idols get so passionate about the smallest/most trivial stuff, lol. The butt debate, the mint-choco ice-cream debate, straw debate, we can go on and on and it never ends. NCT Dream are extra chaotic and super competitive too, which makes their vlives and variety shows hella entertaining. XD

The reason why butt being one or two is a topic in korea is more because of the Korean word for butt. Coz there’s no butt cheek word (I think) and the way they use plurals for body parts is inconsistent. Coz eyes in korean isn’t plural even though it is plural in English.

I don’t know whether there is a commonly used word in Korean for butt cheek so that’s probably why it’s such a big argument 😂

The butt debate comes from the langage. I'm french and in France nobody would debate this topic because it's obvious from the langage. It's so funny for me to watch !

Off topic to Dream kinda bc this butt conversation gets me so heated lol the gluteus maximus is the name for the MUSCLE that make up your butt. Think about how your arm is made up of the biceps brachii (biceps), triceps brachii (triceps), deltoids and many more. Buttock is just the official name for a buttcheek, which is the more casual way of saying it. The buttcheeks/buttocks together make one butt lmao So you guys are still correct, 2 buttcheeks = 1 butt

ohhh.. i always compared the butt to the nose. so i always say that there's 1 butt and 2 cheeks like how there's 1 nose and 2 nostrils, and that the hole separates the cheeks like the septum separates the nostrils lmao

someone already mentioned this but it's actually a grammar issue in korean! in korean, words for bodily features like the arms and legs are not mentioned in plural in the language - it's assumed that you're talking about both your eyes or both your knees unless you specify the left or the right body part in your sentence. that's why there's some ambiguity in the language, fuelling this debate. I'm sure if you spoke to a korean doctor they would say the same thing as you did and indeed confirm there's one butt split into two larger parts as connected to the legs.

Man, I literally got into a fight when I asked my sister whether we have 1 or 2 butts, we didn't talk for a day, and got reconciled because of KPOP Updates...

Hahahah the butt-cheek debate is a recurring topic but some of it does get lost in translation. The reason why it is a "hot" debate for them is because they don't have the word butt-cheek in Korean. Like in English we would say "my left buttcheek hurts" but the same sentence in Korean would be "my left butt hurts." It's something that's solved so easily if it was a debate in English because we have separate terms for butt- and cheeks; there isn't even anything to debate on. But since they don't have that distinction in Korean people could argue about it for hours lol

The butt debate is because Korean doesn't have the work "butt cheek" is one word for the whole thing so the debate started

I know this is random but who has checked out the special preview of street woman fighter on the mnet youtube channel, the show in which our taeyong will be a judge with big sis BOA, that shit is fire forget about girls planet (joking) but if you want another entertaining show this august you guys not so daily should definitely check it out even at your own time...i watched a whole 40 minute preview of that shi and the teams are already spicy and i already saw some twerking in the dance battle so lord help us lmao....even surprised SM allowed taeyong to be a judge considering he's an idol ( i mean you know how some fans can be when it comes to shows outside the box involving their idols) don't get me wrong though taeyong is an amazing dancer i can't even put it into words but am happy they acknowledged him being a judge cause he deserves it...i can't wait for the first episode aah!
