Just how bad is 'The American Society of Magical Negroes' movie?

Ойын-сауық

The title alone caught Panama Jackson's attention; we're talking about 'The American Society of Magical Negroes.' Some call it one of the worst films ever made, so Jackson and Wypipologist Michael Harriot spent their hard-earned money on movie tickets to answer the question, just how bad is this movie?

I haven’t seen the movie, but I suspect its most redeeming quality is that it created the impetus for a conversation between two intelligent black men on social media that didn’t involve sports, the n-word or cursing, which doesn’t happen often enough. Thank you.

I think the point of the movie was to say "Dont have biracial kids" they end up confused ,not truly accepted by either race and often end up hating both sides which ultimately leads to them hating themselves and this movie seems to be a direct reflection of that and we all had to suffer through this as a result. The writer inserted himself into this movie and it was all down hill from there.😂

I definitely agree they are working through some biracial problems. I saw it clear as day and I’m also a biracial person. I will say these dudes need a lot of therapy because they are really struggling with thier black side. They are so desperate for white attention and it bleeds through and makes them look pathetic. Because it is.

However, as a biracial person, I wish we could have a more open discourse about the issues some of us face and how alone we can end up. I wonder if they had white mom’s, because I had a white mom and from what I hear things would’ve been much better for me if it had been my dad who was white. I hear that us biracial a with the white mom’s are all full of mixed people problems 🤣😂

To be honest any big Studio that isn't willing to back it is clearly racist because it would be the biggest money maker and probably go down in history, but that's just me

“I don’t want to sound too, (Umar-ish).😅 I think you can still legally remake this movie. 1st, Titles can’t be copyrighted, so you can use the same title. But for content, you can get permission from the producers/ writers of the original. Sell it’s a sequel, an extension like a part ll. Of course, they probably would want a percentage. I am sure something could be negotiated. To the question of the immortality of the “magical negro”, I think yes. Immortal, not in the sense of individuals, but in the conceptualization, purpose and need of his existence in the first place. For as long as there are people with racist thought and implicit biases, the (M N) has and or will exist for it is a survival technique. So he lives on from generation to generation.

Please , no one appoint a singular author and cultural critic without a preface nor data nor rigorous study- to have permission to declare what Black people fear or what they care about most when violence by the state is among the choices... It sounds elitist and very ignorant... There is statistical evidence that shows Black men do not seek counseling for mental health as a reasonable rate. If true, why would he know what concerns Black people when the data on attending to mental health through counseling is so low... A clip board at the mall?... Where police brutality is high, people will have a response likely different than where it does not happen... like on Mars... Everywhere except Mars, ya dig. I was with you til then...
