First, thank you for introducing some quality photographers who should get more love... I started making zines just a coupla years ago; you can make a pretty decent $12 zine w/Blurb, while one of their small soft cover books (w/same # of images) would come in at a prohibitively priced $35- the reproduction is essentially the same, the paper just a tad thinner, and you can fit two fotos per page in their zines (8 1/2 x 11in) where you could only fit one (of the same size) on a page of their small landscape book (8 1/2 x 9in). Or you can go all out and print an 11in photo on one page- you can even cut 'em out for some damn decent work prints on the cheap! Same quality, much more room to experiment and edit, easy peasy software, more bang for the buck- what self publishing should be (a cheap dummy for the book you'd really want to have). End result- lucked out and got my second one featured in A Photo Editor. Good Luck and continued success...

Really appreciate this info! Will keep it back pocket for when I get to this phase
Thanks for documenting your process man! This is gonna help so many people trying to start out too! Including myself 😂
That first question of "do I even have enough photos" hit. So easy to keep running on that hamster wheel forever
Love the Journey! Keep the series alive. all about the process. Just found your channel this week. love the talking in the street vids!
We're in the same stages brother. Hyped for yours. ;)
Bro, thank you for even sharing some of this process. I wrestle with simply beginning n making excuses too lol. Salute.

Hopefully just started will be one of the bigger obstacles
It’s really cool to see your process with making your zine. I’m thinking of doing this myself so it’s very helpful!
Love this series, my dude. Made my first zine back in 2018 and it was the best time ever. Gotta get back in the game!
Go Paulie ! Follow you from France love your work, thank you to show the process of making your zine. Can't wait to see the 2nd épisode
Great idea. I love these kind of videos which are in practice useful to other photographers.
Good luck with the zine Paulie! I’m curious to follow along your process and appreciate you sharing. I have multiple bodies of work that I want to bring life to in my own zines by printing at home. My only issue is finding the right paper…. A trip to NYC will be needed for me to shop around for some materials. I’m sure there’s more options than Philly and need to actually get my hands on things to know what works

Like for the POV? For pov stuff I use a GoPro with a snap mount. Otherwise I switch between my iPhone 12 Pro & a Sony rx100v
Ive lived here for 40+ years, and never heard anyone call Coney Island "Coney" until KZread street photography became a thing.

That’s cool. I have a bunch of friends who were born and raised here that call it coney. Different strokes for different folks though

Can someone explain to me what Walgreens is?

It’s a pharmacy/grocery store market that also offers photo services in the USA. I go there to make my work prints like Paulie does as well as get passport photos made. In my city, Philadelphia we have a HUGE Walgreens with three floors that has anything you can think of. With big orders of prints over 100 it usually takes 24hrs. Every time I come home from a big photo trip I dump my best selects for printing on the Walgreens website and pick them up the next day and sometimes come home with a chocolate bar or something lol - I just can’t stand looking at a screen anymore for editing, so Walgreens is the way to do it!

They sell burgers and fries
Try that canon SELPHY no cap.
First of all... What do you want us see in a zine? A story, reportage, project, feeling, mood etc?. You could of course make a "best of, by Paulie". But then - what's next? Most of us would make a zine, that just shows the best of our Insta stream. It's fine. But also kind of boring. So think about what you want with this. All the other questions are just technical - and in all not that interesting for the viewer of you zine.... A zine or a photo book, should at least have some kind of flow and story. Not just a best of.

What is a "Zine"? This is the first I've ever heard of it.
Holler if you need help.
So we learned your last name here, but sad to hear you say Paul and not Paulie! You will never be Paul to us!
I hate robs energy in every interaction i've seen in your videos.
