Two of my current favorite players. Didn't know who to root for but farag's experience is way ahead of Elias atm. Give it a couple more years. GG

8:49 is the epitomy of the Farag approach - how to bleed your opponent dry during a rally until they can't take anymore...🔥

There are some very fast players out there but Farag just glides around the court in the most energy-efficient way, so that he can wear down even the toughest opponents.

There were several decisions. but they don't like showing them because the controversy gives the sport a bad rap.

Farag hit two absolutely perfect shots to win that second game. If those are off by a micron he conceivably loses those rallies and goes down 2-0. The balls to go for those - and execute them - at that stage of the match!!

Elias is just beautiful to watch. Text book technique. That said, not sure what was up with him today. Probably prior exhaustion creeping into today’s match

Basically something that happens to Elias very often, burning out physically or mentally (or both). It's a shame because with his technique he should be able to dominate, but not if you don't have the fitness to keep it up a whole match (and tournament).

Love watching these two play because Elias is one of the few that can expose Farag's weaknesses. Of course, not enough gas in the tank to keep it up this time. Great win.

Elias in game number one was by far world #1 material. If he was that consistent no one could beat him.

Seemed like Elias was overheated after the first game. Wrong time of the year to hold a tournament in Egypt

I think if you looked at the all time greats something just under 6' would be the average. Jahangir and Shabana, clearly two of the best ever, are both well under 6 feet. Gaultier, Nicol and Ashour are all under also. No one above 6'4" (193 cm) has been a top player in recent history. The average of the top 10 or 20 right now is probably slightly above* average for healthy young men overall.

@@georgekrumm1857 Top as in #1, or top 10-20? James Willstrop is 6'5 and stayed #1 for a year. But the 6'4 criteria is an edge case because there aren't THAT many really tall players on the tour either.

Crouin, Makin, Coll, Momen, and Hesham are all under 6’ (makin is pretty close at 5’11” though)
