Martin looks quick and athletic! He was scared, but kept it together. I had a colt named Martin and he was the same way.

Good pre-flight check; you get distracted, get in a hurry and it's too easy to short change this job. It's just me, but when I hop on a horse that I'm not sure of, I never pick up the right stirrup right away, not until I'm pretty sure this "marriage" is gonna work. JMO.

Great video! Congrats on almost 50! I'm 59, and I must say I made some major changes between 50 and 59. I think alot more about self preservation now. You have started many more youngsters than I ever have, and they are indeed much more desirable! Lol, I had to make do with what I didn't have, and that was cash. I kinda got what no one else wanted cuz they were cheap! Still, I look back at what I learned from each one and feel blessed. I hope some of them forgave me for my incompetence! I loved them all! Your videos are very enjoyable. Happy 50th, whenever that may be!

Ol MARTIN was a lil bit electric RB. Nice work on that first ride, i think I would need a few Tanquery Gin shots before climbing aboard those colts. Alot to be said for gettin the fresh off. Great watching a solid foundation put on those first rides. 👌👍

Funny you should ask! Episode 28 is all about that horse, Silas. Also, if you subscribe to B1 horsemanship you can see several days of training with Silas from beginning to end. Just follow this link: www.b1horsemanship.com Thanks! Richard

@@LowCountryCowboys; Thank You Richard for getting back to me. I am going to subscribe n also watch 28. Thank you so much. I love the way you train your horses. I have trained all of my life n never really saw anyone train like I did, until I started watching your videos. You give lots of support n praise to your horses and talk to them. I feel talking is very important in training a horse n now a days most trainers are robots, just pointing n sign language. I love the way you handle your horses, I would recommend that everyone get your training videos n subscribe to your channel if they want to learn how to properly train n work with their horses. Your the real deal. I have been very impressed with your stallion Playgun. I really admire his offsprings m may sometime in the next couple of years try to come down n purchase a filly or breed a mare I have to him. I will call n talk more at another time. It’s nice to see your family included in your videos, Please include more when you can. May God richly bless you n your family in all that you do. Blessings.

I appreciate you sharing your videos, I get a lot from them that I can apply to our youngsters. Two questions I have. At what age are you typically starting colts? And does it differ from a filly to geldong/stud? Thanks in advance

Hi Eric, I just found your question so forgive me for responding late. We try to start our young horses at age 2. No difference in the program whether colt or filly. Check out www.B1 horsemanship.com to see the full length instructional videos. Thanks! Richard

About how long do you generally work these colts at one time in the beginning?

Well, my program has changed a lot over the years and currently I'm down to about 20 minutes max in the first 20 sessions unless I run into a serious problem. If a young horse is raised right, that's all it takes. The problem I (and most folks) run into is that its hard to find 20 consecutive days to work so my sessions need to be a little longer sometimes. Thanks for watching! Richard
