Awesome catches. The golden Mahseer is also a dream fish for me on the fly rod. A critique I have is I have never understood why people don't practice casting with both hands. If you are going to be a fly fishermen, the ability to cast with both hands is not a requirement but it is an invaluable tool to have in your arsenal. It just takes a little bit of practice if you can cast with the right. Practice it and you'll never make those awkward unnatrual back casts again. If you're willing to put up with a back cast, you can put up with learning to cast with your left hand. Would love to see Mahseer fishing in faster and more dynamic waters. The highlands of Laos come to mind. Thanks for all the great Mahseer videos! Please do more!

Another awesome clip JW. With just a phone and GoPro, you've made it very interesting with the narratives. Looking forward to your future productions.

I saw a video of a guy fishing the Sumatra River for golden Mahseer. For whatever reason he didn't use a fly rod so it was very disappointing. What a beautiful river it was. The water was super clear and fast running. It would make an epic fly fishing trip. I would love to see you do a video from there fly fishig for Golden Mahseer!

Great Video!! I stayed at that camp and fished upriver a few years back, river was really low and we had to walk through a lot of mud and jungle - I loved every minute of it!! Can you tell me the name of this camp? I travelled with a group of Thai friends and had no idea of where exactly we were staying. May be going back in Jan/Feb 2022 and I hear the water levels are up so the experience would be way different. Love the canteen and great food served there!

Thanks for watching! Appreciate that. If I could send you a private message somehow, I'd share with you the information. We'd like to protect the pristine environment of this fishery and not have too much human pressure on it if you get what I mean? You can message me directly through my website or any of my social media profiles, links are in the video description.

That’s a great suggestion actually. I’ve to remember to do that more often as we keep forgetting. There’s a fly shown at 5:58 and for this type of fish and conditions we often use foam hopper flies and also Chernobyl ant flies. There’re some pictures of the hopper fly in this post flyfishin.asia/mahseer/thai-mahseer-wet-weather-and-aznir-strikes-gold/
