Dear Mr Reynolds and Ms Harry, I do hope you read this. As a child growing up in the 70s (born 62) I had the good fortune (financially) to receive a magazine about the slave trade. My parents were good honest and hard working people and I know, now, this would not have been in their budget. Anyway, the point being, I couldn’t continue with the subscription 😞 it was horrific reading. The cruelty still remains in my memory, in particular, the way the ships were packed with the poor victims shackled, even vile spike type metal collars, literally head to toe with no space between them. It horrified me, I still struggle to accept supposed human beings did this to other human beings, I fail to accept ignorance as a defence. We watched the TV programme Roots which was equally as distressing, but I shall forever be grateful to my Mum and Dad for their generosity in allowing me, at a young age, to share the shame of our predecessors. Stay safe, stay well and Grandma Corset Rocks. What a beautiful historic fact. I’m delighted a day has been granted for the memory of your families past and for the future generations to share. . 😊❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for pointing out the exception of imprisonment in the 13th Amendment! So many blindly say that it abolished slavery, but that exception is significant and has been used systematically as a way of locking up and oppressing BIPOC people since the its passing.

I'm so proud to see such upstanding iconic people like James and Jackee present this amazing representation of our African American history💕 Days has stepped up the bar for us as Africa Americans.. I've been watching days since I was 4 and always loved the biblical named characters on this show. I've been more drawn to Days ,than any other soap..James was our longest standing Africa American actor ,and I loved him and Rene Jones. However, we needed Abe's family to grow ,and I'm so glad to see that has happened..As a Texan, I'm so Proud that Juneteenth is now recognized as it should have always been. Be blessed😇
