A couple of years ago I watched your video on planting your hydrangea hedge. I did one like yours and in just 3 years it is eight foot tall and I love it!❤ I am like you. I always did flower gardens but wanted to do vegetables. Only place I had sun was my front yard. So I did a picket fence and on the outside of the fence I did the lime light hydrangea hedge. Then I went to work turning my front yard into a vegetable garden, mingled with flowers. It was a learning curve for me. Vegetables are different than flowers but I have it mastered now. Love your beautiful garden ❤🌻 Not sure if you know it but you can let the cilantro go to seed and collect it...that is coriander seed, that you can use in cooking.😊

Oh that makes me so happy! My front yard gets full sun - 100% - and I’m tempted to get a few raised beds there.

It is growing so well! You have done such a great job. It is beautiful and artistic looking but still functions totally. For me my garden is my peaceful and soul-nurturing place that gets me through the day.

Yup, purple millet will grow depending on how much space you give it, they were about 4' tall in my raised beds last year, just lovely.

I am trying black eyed Susan’s vine for first time and they are So weak growing. I don’t know what to do for them. I have them in various spots so sun isn’t the issue. I’m wondering if they like warmer climates than my zone 5a. Maybe they like rich soil as I have sandy soil. I’m having luck with Cup & Saucer vine though. I love penstemon and it grew so nice at the bottom of clematis-what a compliment to each other. And what I thought was perennial salvia is annual except one 😏. Nasturtiums I’m finding new varieties more finicky than the originals. If I grow in pots the leaves can get really big. I’ve been trying new flowers the last couple of years and some just don’t seem to take off. New varieties seem to be very weak in the sunflower family and I can grow Huge sunflowers, so I think new varieties seem weaker than the originals. You do grow a lot in your small space! Very organized. And I’m waiting for that garlic space as well 😅. The growing season is going fast. With the heat/humidity it limits time outdoors and Yes, the rain removed the drought, but brought mosquitoes and I’ve emptied all vessels of water. We’ve never had so many. They love the still, hot/humid days. Yesterday we had some wind and not so bad. I can’t even go near the flower garden-I really dislike mosquitoes 🦟 😡. We have 2 zappers going 24/7 and it helps.

You know, last year my Black eyed Suzan's were not so nice after I took them outside, but they woke up at some point and took off, just give them some time. Yes, the heat is crazy here as well.

Everything is looking great!! Thanks for recommending the pine straw mulch, was able to get some this year and its a great mulch for the vegetable garden. My nasturtiums and tomatoes are doing good too so far 🤞

@@SoilandMargaritas I like millet cooked with cauliflower, but have had no luck growing cauliflower. Hopefully I can grow the Purple Majesty millet and save enough seed to grow again and maybe to eat it once if it's not too difficult to hull; but the birds will probably eat all of it before harvest time.

I really want to add a bird bath! I used to have a cat so I didn’t because I didn’t want to lure them in to their demise. I stopped feeding the birds because of rodent problems and I miss seeing them up close. Sometimes when I’m watering a hummingbird will flit in the droplets to wash and drink. I’m thinking a small bird bath with a solar fountain…🤔 Also, about the bad soil, did I see you use the pink bags of Kelloggs? Epic Gardening just did a comparison of soils and I think that one was close to the bottom. The test plants didn’t really grow and looked rough. About the Malabar spinach, I think the flavor is good, I’m guessing people don’t like the texture. It almost has a viscous sap, similar to okra. It’s not dry like spinach. I like it and am growing it too! Trying other heat tolerant greens as well.

I don’t have any cats anymore but I do have a random one that comes and visit. I used some bagged soil from Menards and it was super cheap too, I just knew when my tomatoes and basil were kinda growing curly leaves that it wasn’t a good mix, I added Kelloggs to my garlic bed and to the new corten steel ones and so far so good 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Please be careful with the raspberries. Make sure you truly want them. When they mature they need at least 6 feet in between and they are taller than me. They also have very deep root and propogate by horizontal rhizomes that can be several feet deep under soil (they cane up in our basement egress window wells). They can be very invasive when they have enough water. We had 12 bareroot plants which took over the space equivalent to your vegetable garden in four years. They attracted Japanese beatles like crazy and our other plants suffered. To get rid of our patch, my poor husband had to dig down so much to get rid of the roots. They were prolific and we loved the fruits. But please make sure you really want them and plant them where you do not wish to grow other things.

I do know red raspberries love to send up shoots from under ground after a few seasons. Also when do you start nasturtiums? I can't seem to grow them.

I start them about 4-6 weeks before taking them outside, I also direct sow easily.

I pop seeds around the edges of every pot and bed and they come up, no problem. Once you have them you’ll get volunteers the following year-even easier! They make so many seeds that you’ll also have plenty to save.

And like 2-3 weeks ago the leaves are started turning yellow, curling, and it is spreading more and more from bottom to the top. I am in zone 7 b , I know it’s disease , virus??? What the cure?? Hopefully, Roxana, will see your question I copied this from a website Chlorosis can be caused by a number of things - sudden changes in temperature from hot to cold (or frost), poor drainage, damaged or compacted roots, high alkalinity (too much lime), disease or a nutrient deficiency - underfeeding or over application of fertiliser. It will be a process of elimination to find a solution. As your plants are planted into Tui Tomato mix and you have applied fertiliser, it is unlikely to be nutrient deficiency, but could it possibly be over application of fertiliser? There is fertiliser in the tomato mix, have plants had a double fertiliser dose? If you suspect this then put the hose onto the tomatoes for 10-15 minutes to try and flush excess nutrients out of the soil. Have you or anyone around you done any weed spraying in the vicinity of your plants? Tomatoes are very sensitive to herbicides and it can show up as distorted foliage and yellowing of the leaves. Also a possibility is Mosaic virus which is usually spread by sucking insects such as aphids and can cause similar symptoms, check the leaves for signs of insects, if you suspect virus then the plants are not able to recover from this and will need to be pulled out and thrown away so it doesn't spread to other plants. Have the plants dried out at any stage and then had copious amounts of water applied which causes plant roots to burst allowing soil pathogens to enter, it if was a root disorder the whole plant would start showing signs of collapse. Has your water source changed from last year - are you using grey water, bore water or tank? Are you spraying with any insecticides natural or synthetic?

Oh no 😩 you probably are looking at early blight unfortunately, I know north of me some people are having these problems because how wet and cold it has been and it’s affecting these plants. I used to spray a mix of peroxide and water (like 6tbsp of peroxide to 1 gallon) to the tomato plants early on to help prevent blight, learned it from the rusted garden, but it was prevention and not a fix per se. If you didn’t amend your soil it could be Nitrogen deficiency too. I would google images of blight vs nitrogen deficiency and see which one is close to what you have. If it’s blight I would get rid of it. (I just did that for one of my tomatoes)
