Nah, she’s nothing like Asuka imo (as an asuka main) Asuka on steroids is Xiaoyu. AOP is ridiculous. Xiaoyu can do absolutely everything Asuka can but 1 million times better, in fact you could probably use an Asuka playstyle on Xiaoyu and do even better than you would on Asuka

Jun main here, the thing with her heat smash is that it's even scarier at the wall. You can combo her f4 on normal hit into her heat smash since you're +13 after it hits which wall splats into her huge (tho not guaranteed) wall combo for like 70% health and the f4 itself is like +3 on block. You mix this with her df 3 mid homing wallsplat kick thats also safe. Even if you're not in heat at the wall, f4 into 1+2 heat engager wall splats anyway into the same situation. She can also use her 2nd heat smash out of her f3+4 stance which is basically a hell sweep for free damage and wall splat. But the most absurd thing I found is her d 1+2. In heat it doesn't cost any bar or health so you have a safe huge launching projectile that you can spam for free and gives good oki if they are grounded. It straight up launches if you CH uf3 into d 1+2 into 80 dmg (about 110 with wall) Oh and did I mention she has a side swap launching grab out of full crouch? db 1+2. she has a super good parry for normal punch and kicks and a launching punch parry, huge 10 frame punish atk, she actually has a magic 4 into her 3+4 flip kick (which has multiple atks that follow up into this) her f 3+4 stance auto parries lows (heals during it) and auto parries throws. f3, 2 basically is a free win neutral string, huge range and you're plus on block into your mix ups. you can even delay the follows ups after this to CH them, ex. into f1+2 gives you +13 which means another heat smash or 1+2 or b4,2. Block a low at the wall? 10f wall splat punish. 1, 3 is a super strong round ender high low string, same as df3+4, 4 mid low string and they are like -12. Okay there is ONE weakness I found in Jun tho. She can't launch punish -15 (df2 and hopkick are 16 frames) so stuff like rage arts she can at most do her 10f punish or grab or something (as far as I know) There's more stuff but these are the main ones that stick out to me.

I've suffered a LOT of matches against my buddy's Jun to learn this: After you sidestep her heat smash (do not sidewalk, weird tracking) you can 15 frame punish launch her after the first golden ray. You can't do jack all if you miss your window, but there is counterplay. If you're too far, you'll need to be on the ground or have characters like Yoshi (QCF+1) or Jack's air hops to get over the birds. You can also seemingly sidestep the birds if you're far back enough, but I just recommend blocking because the way the camera boxes you in makes your chances to sidestep inconsistent.

Basically what FrameWhisperer predicted: With all the offense how is the defender rewarded? With nothing

Spends over 10 minutes talking about her heat smash when theres a million other things to complain about that are Jun specifc. Heat smash is a braindead and broken mechanic that you can yolo on damn near 75% of the cast with little risk. Almost all of them re-adjust to track sidestepping targets with each hit, give *dumb plus frames* for an oki situation, and do chunky dmg. It'd be more interesting to hear more in-depth criticism of the character's design aside from the same shit from CBT being "SHES GOT A GLOCK!"

What this game is, isn’t only defined by what the top .0001% of people who play this game think. Which is exactly my point, that you totally missed. And, if I remember correctly, at Evo 2019 TMM placed I believe around 130th, out of 1700 players. That’s a top 10% finish in a huge field. I believe Aris placed even better

It was crystal clear from the beginning Mainman and other people were only gauging Jin's strength based off Kazuya. Jin was only a taste of things to come, and now that people actually understand what they're playing he almost feels tame. You can easily spot the difference between an experienced Jin and one who's still testing the waters in TK8.

I think the second hit of Jun’s heat smash should be a high and she should only gain health back if it connects, that would perfectly balance the move

I have seen this in T7 dlc also, this is harada max lvl meta: Make broken characters. Automatically people get upset which creates drama. That leads to tekken staying trending on socials. Last patch was proof they don't yet want to nerf these characters. And in due time they will. But by that time we have new characters with new bullsht and the circle continues.

If Jun is really super broken, why does she have such low winrates across purple tier and up online, and have such low presence in tournaments? When Leroy was broken in Tekken 7 didn’t he completely dominate the top standings everywhere? I see people complain about her, but her result metrics just don’t seem to align with the narrative.

Probably because players are so much used to autopiloting that it doesn't work no more and they can't adapt due to forming bad habits. Which explains drastically lower win rate at high ranks compared to low and intermediate ranks.

I agree jun needs a few adjustments. but most heat smashes are broken. king has a mid that if you duck you die. mix that with ff. n2 and he becomes a monster you block it you take chip and a nasty 50/50. kazuya has a low heat smash as if he needed more low mid mix ups. most characters do a crap ton chip with heat smash that just normal. and i think the most hated move i the game has to be Azucena wr42 the only thing you can do is sidestep duck it hard to do and if you mess it up you get rekt. she just skips neutral

A lot of the moves he showed are high strings or unsafe on block. He also didn’t mention that to use the safe version of certain moves or anything to do with beams of light she drains her own health which is why she has the ability to heal.

And after 2 nerfs of this character I believe people need to re look at the frames of things she is more punishable and harder to use then people think

As a jun player I knew her heat smash is broken have the time I just use it as a heal. I luv jun I really do and I was excited for her return but an idea I had was to make her heat smash a high and to fix the frame to for more in line with the cast. That way it can be ducked and if close enough punished also the second part (the birds) shouldn't come out if the first hit dose not. I agree a lot of characters can be overwhelming but yea her smash is crazy I luv the character tho goin to continue to play her but I'm man enough to know how strong she is but hope u all doin well hopefully my idea land's

Every Jun i have met have been the exact same. Spamming strings that never ends and i never know if they're - or + and then into heatsmash to end it all up to leave after one match.

If they simply made a couple adjustments like being side-stepable, have 15f startup in line with other heat smashes and if blocked still chips but doesn’t health regen, that would make it kore balanced

I picked Jun as a main because I played her in Tekken 2 as a kid. That's it. No idea how to play her or how good she is. "Hey I've done the story and the arcade, I should watch some KZreads before I go online so I can have a good learning curve." ... Great, now if I join the community I'll be immediately hated. That's awesome.

Nah don't worry about it. No matter who you chose you're gonna get heat for it sooner or later. Every character has their haters and only idiots hate a person for who he plays. Besides, the game's gonna get patched and balanced multiple times, things will change, Jun might be nerfed or not - no one knows. Just play who you like and enjoy it!

Okay hot take: i think jun is high tier yes but not top tier, feng drag ling dvj tier. And Im a reina main so not downplaying. But jun has literally only 4 moves that track to her left 3 of which are worth a dang. B2, D4, UF3. If she does b2 1 at an angle the 1 can whiff and you can launch punish that sh!. Her heat smash is a huge gimmick yes but the first hit is extremely linear and you can launch in between hits and if you do she doesnt heal and she loses her heat so while kind of whack, theres still counter play also its minus 6 not plus thank the lord. She has no low threats, theres almost no reason to duck this character outside of her high/low strings. Her only low that leads to bs is fc df3 which is minus 19 on block. The rest are low damage pokes. But she has the highest combo damage in the game so why would anyone be ducking her. So she struggles to get damage without being predictable if the opponent is playing safe, not whiffing much. Where as the other top tiers bring the damage to you no matter the situation Edit: the moves that track to her left dont track to her right at all and vice versa also she cant launch rage arts or anything -15 so high health rage situations (you got put into rage with a lot of white health then landed a head engager and healed or something) you can be more liberal with rage arts cuz she cant kill you

I agree with this video, but I personally think the damage of characters overall is too high. You go to the wall on Bryan, make 1 mistake, 30+% of your hp gone, azucena does combo damage on punish, Jun breaths and her health went up while your in urgent care

If they nerf Bryan’s damage he’ll be pretty much unplayable in this meta. Defence and punish oriented characters are getting crushed in Tekken 8. Look at Kaz, Bryan and Steve on most tier lists.

@kylecairns2847 the point isn't that Bryan does too much damage. It was a general game thing. Punishes shouldn't do 30% hp and combos shouldn't do 40+% of your hp. Especially when they all end at a wall or you just on the ground being able to apply pressure for more damage

And this is the main reason, why people don't like last update with Tekken shop. Game had before release alfa and beta and they didn't still fix ALL problematic moves. Why? They were really that inspired from Tekken 5, so they did 1:1 opening like that, but they decide to make more broken characters like was Steve? I don't really get it. It's really shame, game's look amazing, but devs are totally ignorant about these things. Aggression... yeah, my ass, it's really fun get boom rushed, without any option to counter play. Homing grabs, most new moves are overtuned, but they didn't forgot to nerv Leroy, because he's not a DLC anymore. And in this state, where this game is, they give us Tekken shop. So, you have that much big balls to outright begging for more money, because making one Tekken character costs 1M dollars or some shit? And? It's cute tho, how you trying, but this game never was released in this state, when you do this useless work with balancing. Peace.

Her "healing" is grey health regen rather than pure healing, and heat smash on block doesn't regen the whole grey bar and neither does the unblocked one if you have a lot of grey

That's true but unless you absolutely beat on her she will regen a decent amount of health and he's right in one thing, your worst case scenario is a health exchange and its all build in a ranged "spell" That being said anyone who picked Jun because they thought she looked cool more power to them, its on the Tekken devs to balance characters and not the player's fault for choosing something they like which just happens to a cut above the rest in some aspects

TMM tears are some of the sweetest. Love when his butt is so hurt, but I think he gives people the wrong idea about the game in a huge way.

Maybe she would be more balanced if: -Heat Smash didn't track anymore after the first projectile; -Heat Smash can't heal anything if the opponent blocks it; -Self damage is not recoverable if the opponent blocks it; -Jun's 10f punisher didn't wall splat; I'm by no means a game dev, but at least one of these options certainly would balance her without breaking the character

Dragunov is broken as balls,jun is beyond infuriating,DVJ is literally the strongest character in heat,but lets nerf tf out yoshis flash Instead of addressing ACTUAL problems LOL

I dont think shes that broken most of her powerful moves takes her health anyway so if you cant keep up continuous pressure and your opponent isnt taking the bait your at a high disadvantage.

She’s deserves to be as good as she is. Been gone far too long leave the poor woman alone..

I’m new to tekken in general and I main Jun because she flows well for me. I really want to get better with her

It's the worst when your main is busted like this, because you can love their design and gameplay style, but you'll always be haunted by the fact that your main is carrying you hard AF. (I main Kazuya btw. Trust me, it'll be worth all the effort when she gets nerfed and all the people who just play her for her power level leave her.)

I played (and beat) a Jun before my Fujin promo and got the message, "All you do is (4,2), Imagine trying so hard on a fighting game"......I was using SHAHEEN. 😂😂😂

so many people crying about how broken she is but nobody in high level play are playing her. she got her wall damage gutted while plenty of the roster still gets free followups on their wall combos. shes not even top 10 in playrate. not even top 15 in purple rank+. bottom 8 in winrate overall. 3 worst win rate in purple+ ranks. hope balance patches hit one of the statistically worst characters.

As a Jun player I do not disagree with him on the heatsmash. But this video is just pure salt and crying. Like, come on. Give some solutions on what you think would make it ok, im super interested in what a good player would say to fix it, come with ideas. This is just cry cry cry, no solution

Well, but i did counter played her heat smash. Sidestep her first hit, then did an attack before she did 2nd hit. It's not that hard, first hit doesn't has any tracking. But DJs heat smash is really has no counter play

I agree same time that is a character that literally sacrifices health to do combos so

If they do not fix Jun's heatsmash, i atleast hope they add a Laser heatsmash to Kazuya at 12frame start up just for the heck of it. I cannot understand why some characters are awarded projectile heatsmashes with i13 while the rest have i15 - i22frame close quarter Heatsmash. It is so unbalanced.

S tier char criteria - Insane frames + Insane damage

Heat bars, gimmicky lasers, guns and projectiles - it's Iron Fist Tournament, not Devil May Cry meets Call of Duty. At least when we played the old school T2-T4 at home with friends, you could slap anyone who wanted to pick Devil or Ogre or whatever, unless it was your 10 y/o little brother and you wanted him to have a fighting chance.

As a jun main, i almost never used her normal Heat Smash cause alot of players i fought never know/forgot about GEN Heat Smash. A fast hitting low for free dmg n hp regen.

she damages herself with her own moves tho. her heat smash healing is the only way to balance out her constant health damage. she can only recover some recoverable health. so without any grey bar she recovers nothing. also there a gap between her two heat smash hits. block or sidestep the first and you can counter before the second hit comes out. almost everything jun does has a punishable gap. once you learn her gap weaknesses you can stop almost all of her mixup game and pressure

But I love her 🥺🥺 As a Jun main I understand. They did give her a final boss feel.. the powers were a “bit” much. What do you think could be done to make her not so over powered? Given how they have her now.

If u have fun on a char pls keep playing them. Even if they're really strong just pay attention to patch notes and learn to adjust as characters are toned down.

I play Jun and Asuka, I'm a war criminal. An otter with a squirt gun. Thats how I play.

Yeah she is definitely overtuned. But one thing that I find really jarring about the game is the universal heat burst. It is near impossible to step. Always safe. And leads to random shenanigans for every character once heat is active. I thought the logic behind the design decision of adding heat engagers for every character is that those will be at the core of a character's identity. In practice, near everyone just mashes heat burst whenever they feel threatened or to simply gain a chance to close a match out with next to no risk. As a basic mechanic, it seems really braindead. But that is accessibility in fighting games nowadays. Uggh.

heat burst is the universal disengage button now the whole game is warped around it you are either watching the heat burst mini cutscene a billion times or the heat engager mini cutscene a billion times this game is definitely on its first version and you can tell. T7 had years of adjustments before it came to consoles and PC

Imo heat burst should only be accesible if you have low health, it's supposed to be a move for comeback potential afterall.

I wanted to pick up Jun on release but could tell something was off so didn't bother and I've heard two others saw the same. Sometimes I think this is an oversight with the balancing they don't realise yes alot of people enjoy playing broken characters, winning and yes the imbalance creates alot of talk surrounding your game but I wonder how many more people would play your characters that currently don't because of this.

ive been asuka main since t6 and with how dirty they did her and basically making a clone thats 100x better i might just switch to jun

kings heat burst does half health on hit, is plus 100 on block and forces a true 50/50 on block and hit and your talking about a negative on block heat smash?

Dang I'm new to Tekken and I love Jun. Didn't take the time to realize how strong these might be. Guess I'll use it while it exists and see how busted they might be. If it seems crazy I'll Dark Souls it and avoid it to be respectful or pick a diff character lmao. I still get shit on by small moves by every character I haven't taken the time to lab tho. I never know until it happens 😂

I legit thought season 1 would be a clownfest in terms of balancing and it turned out to be true. But there are a lot of characters with broken stuff which needs balancing. I think the first "real" balancing will happen after EVO Japan where we will see how these broken characters function in a optimized playstyle. I think bamco wanted a lot of "strong" characters so we would see more variety instead of your typical 3-4 top tier picks which you see in every top 8.

I play Jun, I've found her pretty underwhelming and constricting. That said I haven't followed the meta at all so maybe some of the cancer moves can help my play. Though undoubtedly the heat smash is OP. Reducing the range would do a lot to help, or increasing start up. I'm not really against the estus as that's a resource we're also spending but the ease of use is the issue. Though it does seem a lot of criticism focuses on her advantages and skips her disadvantages.

I play jun, if the first hit misses on her heat 2+4 you can stop the second hit, plus all light attacks that miss her hurt box is increased

As a Lars main, I’m happy to say I can just hit u 3+4 and jump over her ridiculous heat smash lol. That being said, it’s extremely difficult to time correctly.

SS the first projectile into a low attack will beat her second projectile. CORRECTION: Literally any sidestep attack will beat her second projectile. Launchers included. Her follow up is 32 frames, so as long as you ARE actually sidestepping, anything goes.

Not even the special pimp cane of ol' t7 Leroy was this bad.

I think you could've interrupted the second attack of her HS (it's 32f on start) after stepping the first. The chip isn't as bad as some other characters. I main Raven. You should see how much chip (and life gain) all my doppelgangers can collect without landing a single one.

if you manage the first side step, can you grab or hellsweep her?

I've watched 6 of this guys videos and in each one he's complaining about something different every time.
