Respect for the guy trying jumping in only a neck strap! The most well trained horses are those answer to pressure from rider, not to the pain from pulling and hitting! :) Good balance. Makes me sad thinking how big competitions don't allow riders to go out there with bitless with their horses (I understand bridleless, but bitless...), because of the amount of riders with badly-trained horses that treat everything as nothing more than a business where proper education is too time-consuming -mechanical hackamores can be worse than snaffles in terms of pressure btw- but let's hope that in the future they will encourage a better horse-rider relationship. Good people will help change archaic views.

@@lotteklaver5837 On the single clip on yT it shows she used a bit too on top of the mechanical hackamore... like what kind of control issues did she have with the horse, it makes you wonder, and the reasons. Big mechanical hackamores shouldn't be allowed in competitions where "bitless" is the norm because it goes against the principle/idea of switching to bitless... that is, showing how the horses listens to pressure, not to pain... the ones with the longest shanks put the highest amount of pressure on the horse head/mouth (lever action), more than what a snaffle does, so they can be worse, because they are used for the total control of the animal (since opposing it is painful).

I mean same. My first riding instructor had this really troublesome Shetland and I was still small enough to ride him and had several years of experience already so I was always the one to get him to work when all the kiddos were afraid of him because he loved to make people fall down, just for the fun of it. So whenever I had time and she had experienced riders with "the big horses" on the pen she just told me to warm him up and then let him work. He actually is the horse who bucked me off the most times.

It hadn't registered the first time I watched the video, but this time it dawned how high Annie was jumping compared to her own height! There is a great amount of explosive energy in Annie to this day, especially considering her age! It may be anthropomorphic, but counting Eva's and Matt's experiences riding her, the only control may be that it was Jesse riding and that kept Annie from running away, rider and all..

You two are so lucky to be friends and able to help and have fun together. Had that with my friends when we were in high school. Now one friend is afraid of horses (she got the wrong horse for her, tried to make it work, ended up breaking her back) another has her own horse, but we live so far apart and have such a different view on riding, and I don't even have a horse now, I just borrow one, once a week. So I really enjoy watching your friendship and you guys having fun with your horses.. 😊

Nice to watch, though I am jealous I am 26 and still am not able to own a horse, so I will love vicariously through you. Bareback riding helped me so much with my balance and position. I was plonked on a horse I had never ridden before after 6 years of riding maybe once or twice a year and somehow managed to stay on with no saddle pad, no knee rolls, just a rope. It was terrifying but I learned a lot in a short space of time; I had to if I wanted to not fall off and die XD

This is, in my opinion, how horseback riding should be like. I ride my horse with a bitless bridle, we are not there yet on the neckrope but it is something I want to do in the future with her! She doesn't feel very comfortable bareback without a pad so I will get a nice bareback saddle for her too. If you can ride your horse with less equipment then I think you should :3

@Leah_Rose I understand what you mean. And of course it can be a safely issue if you haven't trained your horse with less equipment. And yes a lot can hurt a horse or rider if used incorrectly. But bits where designed from the beginning to be uncomfortable and make horses follow you and be easier go ride, because it's painful. That's just facts, and then we come up with this nose band to prevent the horse from opening it's mouth. You know why they open their mouth? It's because of the bit, it hurts if you pull on it and for release they open it. Then they bit doesn't touch their gum and tongue. But not all people who use bits, spurs and so on are bad people or hurt their horses. It's just easier to hurt your horse with this stuff because it is often used incorrectly. But yes, you do you. But I recommend you to try riding without a bit, safely of course, and slowly so you and your horse can get used to it 😊

@@melanieselin4187 I love the fact that in this comment you weren't telling everyone that everyone who uses bits and spurs are awful because so many people do and it it just shames the equestrian community and the person writing the comment. Some even go as far as to say that all who use bits and spurs must go to hell! But yeah. Thanks for not being one of those absolute assholes. X

I have a mare who loves to run too. Thing is, she's even more argumentative. She's not mean about it usually, no bucking, just stubborn. She doesn't jump though, she has some minor feet issues in the front that are still being worked on, so I am still starting very slowly. We'll probably only go up to 2ft maximum. But, she's second level dressage!
