    You need to soak those bluegill in apple cider vinegar, you won't have any fishy taste anymore, my grandma taught me that.

    It's so weird to see you fishing that spot I've tried it in the summer and I usually only get small bass but if you try the little pond along the fence along the freeway behind the college there's a five pound bass I've caught there before

    That's how bluegills used to be everywhere before Facebook fishing groups spot burned everything. Now people think 7inch bluegills are monsters lol meanwhile me back in the day catching dozens of 9 inch bluegill with tall shoulders

    There as many ways to cook these fish as there are to catch them. My cast iron fry pot doesn’t care how I caught ‘em, or how I prepped ‘em.

    These small fish should not be filleted. You remove scales, remove head and guts, and cook whole.

    My dad took us kids fishing back in the day,he would catch a big mess of sun fish,and cleaned them like your talking about, heads,scales and guts,then mom cooked them for supper,good eatin.

    Period!! I soak mine in salt water with lemon juice for about an hour, coat with Andy’s Cajun and Red fish batter, then off into the deep fryer! The best fish ever y’all

    I know I'm gonna get some hate for this but as table fare i hate bluegills but they fill the void when the bass are giving me the middle finger 😂. Also I must add you dont fillet bluegill they're meant for the deep fryer with fins attached just remove head,guts and scales

    I've fished that spot hundreds of times, and nobody has ever yelled at me. Most people are genuinely interested and ask what you are fishing for.

    Bleed your fish to get rid of the fishy taste. As soon as you catch them cut the gills.

    Always keep the skin on. Youll get a lot more meat way bigger filets. You dont taste the skin like you would a trout. Bluegill is one of mh favorite fish to eat

    Do your self a favor and don't fillet bluegill. Clean off the dorsal and pectoral fins. We scaled, gutted and trimmed off the heads when I was kid. I'd be tempted to leave the heads on these these days to see if bluegill have any of the much lauded cheek meat. My mother fried them in cornmeal, salt and pepper. The meat near the bones is very flavorful so we just gnawed our way around those bluegill bones. No meat wasted. My dad liked the fried tails.

    Man you are fishing and wasting fish trying to filet out bluegill. I have friends who do the same with crappie great eating but a lot of wasted fish. Cook em whole and pick the bones.
