It was the first book I decided to pick up. Really good, unsettling, visceral read

My vote is for The Beholders, if you haven't chosen already! The cover is stunning, I haven't seen that before but now I think I need it. Is that a needle? I think I need Crow Garden to though. You have so many pretty books! Also, I don't know your reading taste that well, but I saw that you had The Shadow of the Wind, which is one of my favorites. I have the Mercies and the Paying Guests on my tbr as well. Came here from Leandra's video and I'm glad I did!

🧜‍♀️ I vote for the Beholders, it really was a toss up! Here's an idea for your tbr game. Add in a 'remove one ', and a 'switch one' prompt card. To keep it interesting you could roll the die at the beginning to assign each promt a color, set them aside and proceed with the game. If the color comes up that is attatched to the switch one or remove one you have the option to do so. Does that make sense? Like pink for historical fiction, but you don't want that and pink correlates with the remove one. Like a get out of jail free idea!

My vote is for the crow garden. I’m planed out my summerween tbr and I have to slightly change the 5 word prompt because I accidentally got a book with 4 words but I still really want to read it for that. I thought there was an extra “the” at the front when there wasn’t 😂 I’m really excited for it though so I’m gonna imagine it’s there. I’ll post mine in the discord soon. The Beholders ❤ I read Fruit of the Dead and enjoyed it - it all gets pretty crazy at the end, but what do you expect with a Greek myth retelling set in modern times?! It was a fun ride.

Kore is another name for Persephone. I think both of your historical fiction choices sound like books I'd like, hard to choose. So, I'm going to pick The Crow Garden for a very very weird reason. Because it has a lower rating. I often find books that waver around a three star rating end up being something I like, and that the rating is low because it splits readers into two camps. So I'm curious!

I'm really looking forward to Summerween! I have 2-3 books that I can make fit ALL the prompts. I will read one of those first. Then I can pick whatever calls to me for the rest of the week. I have quite a stack of choices picked from my personal shelves, and then I went to the library and checked out another stack of potential spooky reads. I wish Summerween was a month long. Honestly, I've already started reading from my stack so, if I want, I can make it last a month. Oops! Mwahahahaha!
