Nah…only 2 years living there…you think you are attached until you actually put in a good 5-10, then you look back & actually realize 2 yrs was but a tiny part of bigger things to come. It’s too exciting to get to start with a clean slate with even more room & she’s very excited about that! 😊

You should tell the new owners, if they decide they don't like or want something to call you and you will take it to your new place. They may not like the same things as you and have a different idea of something they would like to put in place.

Every time you retell the story about the Itoh Peony that belonged to the neighbour’s mother, and how you planted it where they could see it, I’m reminded how kind a heart you have. Your true garden is inside you Janey, what you have created here you would create anywhere you go, and it will be better every time because you cannot help but create that abundance from your truth.

Oh Janey! I feel your pain . . . I went through a move to the house next door 15 yrs ago to the house we had planned/hoped to purchase in a new subdivision. We missed putting down our deposit for it by 10 mins. That was in ´92 but in ´08 we got our chance again and moved next door to our #1 choice. The main reason I am telling you this is because since our house was also sold to a couple who ¨liked to garden¨ over the next year they ripped out every established tree, shrub and perennial. Plus, I had left behind all of my heavy duty iron trellises since there were roses growing all over them. The trellises were pulled out and were given away. I know it was their house and I did expect changes but it was hard. I really regreted leaving so many beautiful plants that ended up in the compost bin. If you love it, take it with you!! Just because you may think it belongs in your present garden does ńot mean they will. xo

Janey, I’m a 9b Scottsdale AZ gardener. You inspire me to try new plants in my very mature desert garden. Your love of all plants flowering is such a different style from my own. Your garden is just lovely. You’ve planned, planted, removed, replanted, moved…the journey for all of us gardeners. It’s brought joy to so many of us watching. A sweet goodbye to this garden and a greeting to your next!❤

I know this feeling. I left my garden of TWENTY YEARS behind… last December. I took a few things but left behind so much along with my greenhouse. I cried and cried. But I moved on to my new garden that’s on almost 7 acres when I was on less than acre before! My clean slate (well it was a clean slate but I started planting the day after closing 😆)… is a dream for this home gardener. Bigger and better things ahead for you!

I know you have a ton going on but have you thought of getting a tray of growers pots maybe three or four inches and some rooting hormone and taking a snip of all the plants you say you will miss and stick them in the dirt. They may not all take but if you got the majority to take it would be nice to have starts of all the original plants you love!

What a thing of beauty you've created, Janey. The first time I happened to go down your street last year and see your garden, I was like, WHOA!!! And ever after that, my husband and I would say, "Let's drive home by that garden." You have brought delight to us every time. And I know what you are going through in trying to decide what to leave behind for the new owners and what to take. When we moved, I made the hard decision to leave a lot of our potted plants behind because not only were they so big, but also, I couldn't bring myself to kill the plants in order to keep the pots. I thought that how we had constructed our mostly container garden was perfect for the space and that's where they all belonged. It helped knowing that one of the new owners was into gardening. Your new owners are lucky to have the gifts you are leaving behind. Onto the next chapter!

Ahhh Janey! I am crying with you. You created such a beautiful garden. It is where you "cut your gardening teeth". You learned so much. Lots of successes and some failures but that makes us better and smarter. You have video documentation of this garden to bring with you into your new garden. I highly recommend a book I am reading now. "Uprooted A gardener reflects on beginning again" by Page Dickey. You may find some solace reading her transition from one garden to another. I know you were holding back those tears. I hope you have time and support to cry the Ugly cry for leaving your garden. You need to mourn it's loss. And delight in it's memory. Love you Lots Janey❤😘❤

Boy did I feel this.... your emotions. We move tomorrow, from our home of over 23 years! Our homes aren't just buildings, we have soul ties to them in so many ways! I am closing a huge chapter of my life here, where I raised my children but am ready to move on after enduring a huge tragedy right next door, with my dear friends and neighbors of the 23 years here. So, this has pushed us to sell and move onto a new chapter and heal. Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden and your raw emotions. Wishing you much happiness in your new journey.

Well, what an accomplishment Janey.. as a gardener you have grown so much here and it’s been wonderful watching your journey 💚 and I’m so looking forward to what’s next! I feel like I’ve grown as a gardener as well just learning from you. I’m so glad I got to see the beauty of your garden in person! So… is this what it feels like to be proud of your child and have to let them leave the nest? 🥹😭😂 🎉 Fly Janey! 🙌

We just moved out of state away from friends and family and all we've ever known and the only that made me tear up was leaving my garden. My dad has been watering the plants during the last week of escrow and when I told him yesterday that would be the last watering (since escrow is closing today) I cried again. So much time, love, effort and thought went into that garden.

Love those surefire begonias. I intended to do a mass planting of the sure fire cherry cordial but could not find enough for the whole area. So I purchased sure fire rose, and sure fire red and blended all 3 into the entire garden bed and it turned out just wonderful. At first I was nervous about blending all those colors but after I watched the video where you toured poppies and plaids garden I felt really good about it and now that its almost August it looks spectacular. You have done a magnificent job in your front garden Janey and I know exactly how you are feeling about leaving such a beautiful garden. I have enjoyed watching every tour and seeing how things are doing in this area. I cant wait to see the new property and that new garden will be just as awesome. Happy tears for you my friend !

I would take cuttings of your star jasmine because it has such sentimental value. In fact, I'd take cuttings of everything you love. My crape myrtle looks like yours. So many flowers! I got the new owners let you take some of the plants you received as gifts like your Camellia. It's so sad to think of leaving those behind. It's so sad to leave your garden but so exciting to see what you do with your new place.

I would be taking cuttings of all the expensive things that I couldn’t take, or asking the new owner if I could come back at the right time of year and take cuttings or root pieces.

I have A LOT of Plumbago in my gardens.....I treat mine like a hedge....they get trimmed regularly....it keeps them neat...makes them more dense...and keeps them blooming.....these are one of my most favorite things in my garden....they only look pretty grown as wild child when they are planted in a tall urn and allowed to just BE....mine want their water a couple of times a week....or they just look unhappy....and I give them Miracle Grow Rose Bloom twice a year...Spring and Fall....I live in Florida in zone 9a.
