July 4th Industrial Siren Blasts | Federal, Sterling, Sparton | Alert Blast

Ғылым және технология

I decided to fire up all sirens I had hooked up to a cord for the 4th, and that was amazing! The Sterling still has horrid bearings, and I need to start looking at getting some wicks for the grease cups (if anyone knows where I can find some, let me know!). Thankfully lots of people were shooting fireworks off nearby, so o one complained to me lol.

Yeah, the bearings aren’t the happiest on that siren. Probably due to the fact that there aren’t any wicks under the oil sumps. I still need to figure that thing out!

I don’t own a Model 28, and honestly I’m not sure I ever will. I’m more into the industrial sirens, but I do own a Model 76; still need to get a battery for it…

the last one was a fast wind up... i'm sure it'd coast longer with a bit of fresh oil in the bearings

Yeah that old Sparton has a ton of torque; it tends to dance around a bit on the blacktop if left unattended or weighed down. I still need to find out how to open the back up on that thing as there's no hardware that holds the motor in place or in a shell like the Federals I own, or in a sleeve like an old Darley I recently got.
