It's so rare to find stuffs about this brand. If this were in a CD with English subtitle, I think I would purchase it. Luckily for me, it looks like KZread automated subtitles translation is working well

They are making superb instruments now. One of my pupils won a competition recently and was privileged to perform his winning composition on a gorgeous new Bluethner. My colleagues who were there found its tone superior to the newer American Steinways. With Bechstein mostly a beautiful memory--(is Steinway approaching that status as well?)-is Bluethner destined to recapture its place as the world leader for quality and craftsmanship?

..But anyway I love my wonderful Steinway, dare I say it, much more than any other instrument.

berlinzerberus I love mine too, the 2001 "B", that is, not the beat-up 1920 "O" I mostly teach on (which at one time was a fine instrument, before I took it over and wore it out). I hope Steinway will continue to make fine pianos for many generations to come. There is nothing quite like the Steinway sound, and perhaps no other piano make which allows an artist to express himself in so many different ways, and in so many different styles…Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Prokofiev, even jazz…may Steinway never die.

berlinzerberus So do I - Steinways still seem to me to be the leaders in the field (with maybe Fazioli coming a close second?). Sadly my experience of modern Blüthners is very different from James's. I would have to rate them as amongst the worst so-called 'quality' instruments I've played ... ! Some of the vintage ones are however really beautiful.

paulprocopolis This particular Bluethner which my student played did indeed have an exceptional tone. It was brand new and had been purchased at great expense by the private school where the competition took place (it was a 7-foot model, the size of a Steinway "B", but allegedly the cost was closer to a model "D"). Perhaps Bluethners haven't yet achieved the consistency of Steinway, but unlike Yamaha which is trying (still unsuccessfully) to compete with Steinway, they are, as far as I know, still a hand-crafted instrument, so I would imagine each new instrument that leaves the Bluethner factory varies in sound and quality a bit. I agree whole-heartedly with you that Steinway is STILL the best, and would be my choice above all others.
