I was born that year this concert was shot. It's so amazing how Julie was able to sing the song by herself before that throat surgery. As a young adult, I've grown to appreciate The Sound of Music enough to make it semi holiday tradition. I've watched it 10 times

The best voice in the world. A gift from god she brings joy to everyone. Anyone who doesn't like her. Shame on them

Lukas Previn, son of Andre, was at this concert at the age of 12 and his memory of it is that when Julie sang this song he was "crying like a little girl." Totally understandable. This was a very special moment in the history of musical performances.

saying one is crying or doing anything "like a little girl" is insulting. Girls are not necessarily overemotional, and males showing emotions does not make them less masculine. Insulting girls is not necessary.

@@su-rv2uq I did not author those comments. They came from Lukas Previn. Take your complaint to him. As for stereotyping boys and girls, your comment shows an over-caffeinated amount of unnecessary complaint. I think that women are better than men because they permit themselves to be in touch with deep feelings. Lots of guys are just jerks. I should know. I went to college for four years and lived in a dorm.

True, JA used to have a great singing voice, and yes, it is regrettable that she isn't able to sing like she used to, but she's still one of the greatest names in the history of show business!

As a millennial who's been a fan of her since watching Mary Poppins on VHS, i find it a worldwide tragedy. With the minor exception of Throughly Modern Millie, she fails to amaze. It makes me wish i was born sooner.
