Two of the most thoughtful and gracious people who happen to be brilliant guitarists. I’d listen to this sort of conversation about any number of different topics. Thank you for this!

Just brilliant stuff. It's already been said, two of my favourite guitarists in conversation. If we could have had Bill Frisell in the mix that would have been a full house as far as I'm concerned. I very much expect to watch this through again. Thank you, Adam.

I just stumbled over this, and I love it! Only a week since I watched Julian Lage in Oslo, Norway, and I randomly watched and found out about Adam Levy on the train going to the concert! Love both, and Adam is one of the first I’ve heard that really resonates with me as a guitarist. Love this! ❤

Fascinating to hear about composing Myself Around You. I listened to it over and over when the album came out. Something extra special in it, aside from the amazing performance. My questions would be: when composing with pencil and paper, does he have the guitar in hand? Is melody or harmony first? Like a real deep dive into his composition process because his songs are really original and wonderful.

A note on 'distortion' on acoustic guitar. I have the idea/feeling that if i strike a string hard enough the string starts to distort. If you would hit a string so hard it would break it would definitely distort or....? This is why i play with a thick completely rounded pick, so i can hit the strings harder, compared to a pointed pick, before the string starts to 'distort'. On a saxophone, and a whole bunch of other instruments i guess, its possible to let the reed 'distort', actually all bending of a reed or string could, from a scientific point of view, be seen as 'distortion', with a more or less 'harmonical' outcome. Excuse my english i am half dutch. Groeten!

If I were to converse with Julian, it would probably be about gear. In terms of music and theory, he is just so far above me that I'd feel foolish trying to discuss those subjects, tho I'm sure he'd be nice about it.

Increible entrevista Adam! Si podria realizarle una pregunta a Julián seria: ¿Por que dejo de usar la Blue Chip y se pasó a la Tortex? El groso de ambas son muy diferentes y la sensación al toque debe haber cambiado en algún punto su sonido!!! 🎶

The question and answer of cultivating voice is packed with guidance that will last me for a long time. What I ask Julian?…Why has he not incorporated lyrics and vocal melody in his work? Does the confinement of the type of structure needed to have vocals discourage him?

Somebody -- Aoife O'Donovan, perhaps -- put lyrics to Julian's "Ryland," something about meeting under a tree IIRC.
