Julian Assange Arrives At Court In Saipan For Plea Deal Hearing | 10 News First

Julian Assange has touched down in Saipan and walked into a U.S. District Court alongside former Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd, ahead of a hearing in which he is expected to finalise a plea deal that will free him from further prison time.
The Wikileaks founder will plead guilty to one charge of espionage under the deal instead of the 18 he originally faced, meaning his five years spent in a UK prison is set to be considered as time served.
After leaving London on Monday and a stopover in Bangkok, he is set to finally return home to Australia following the court hearing in Saipan, which as part of the Northern Mariana Islands, is U.S. territory.

No thanks, I would rather someone less idiotic. Blindly dumping as much sensitive data on our own country, and our allies is nothing more than pure ignorance. People screeching about freedom of information to the extent Assange released data have no doubt lived their entire life in a peaceful and privileged life in a western country. Ignorant of history, and the fact that secrets and sensitive information are held for a reason. We don't live in a land of fairies and peace. But I am sure China, Russia and many others greatly really appreciate his assistance. Obviously there was some information that fits outside what I mentioned above, but its irrelevant. Assenge essentially data dumped as much information he could get his hands on. Regardless of the potential damage it could cause.

If it was any other country than a western democracy he would be killed for the secrets he helped release. Especially in countries like Russia and China. In the end countries have secrets, some which protect those gathering information on rival countries. To blindly release tons of data with no understanding of the impact of the the information released is idiotic.
