Ah yes, Redux... you were a jerk. While Oro takes the #1 prize of being a truly sadistic monster, on a smaller, human level, Redux also did some unforgivable things: Namely, not calling Midas back into the room when their dying mother woke up (after he had stepped out for a moment to cry) until the moment she had passed away. And flat out _lying_ to their mother when she asked if Midas was here as she thought she'd heard his voice as she woke up. Redux let their mother die thinking her son Midas had never returned, and he took from Midas the last chance to say goodbye. I hate Redux for that. Redux was so obsessed with hating his younger brother for no logical reason, so eaten up by envy because he felt their mother loved her "no-good failure of a son" Midas more (despite Midas being brilliant and smart). Because he thought Midas was "less deserving" of that love than him, Redux. At least Midas has the excuse that a creature with literal godlike powers did everything to ruin his life so that he stayed poor whatever he did until Oro had inflicted the curse on him; then when it suited Oro he allowed Midas to become powerful and rich so he could find the other Disciples, but at the cost of Midas becoming a driven and bitter man. He never was allowed to have a normal life of his own design. That scene was the dark mirror version to the Jesus' Parable of the Prodigal Son (also known as the Parable of the Two Brothers, or the Story of the Lost Son): The younger son who was thought to be dead and returns home with empty hands after many years of squandering his wealth but is nevertheless welcomed by their father who is happy that his son is alive. While the elder son is envious that the father throws a celebration for someone who he sees as "undeserving", someone who left the family behind and wasted his life while the older brother stayed and "did his duty". Only in the case of Midas, Redux stole even the chance from him of being welcomed back by his mother he loved.
