Juggling Memories from WJF 2008: Bruises of Fun!
*USED WITH WJF PERMISSION* Now that we're all home letting our sore hands recover from 8 days of intense juggling, I hope this video will bring back good memories of our time together, and show the world that technical jugglers aren't always serious!
Thanks to Jason Garfield for creating the WJF, and to all the great jugglers who traveled to Las Vegas the week before Christmas 2008 to blow my mind with incredible skills and friendly vibes. This video is dedicated to the smiling and sweet female jugglers who gave me the inspiration to make it: Joelle, Lindsay, Laura, Nikki, Cecilia, Olga and Olga.
Thanks Sondre, Peter Gerber, and Dylan Zintmeister for helping me shoot video.
Song is "Bruises" by the group Chairlift. Album "Does You Inspire You," available from Kanine Records.

Looking at this video STILL makes me go back to that time. My first trip abroad alone and where else but straight to the US and Las Vegas. Walking on the carpet floors and living in casinos. The atmosphere was amazing. I doubt I will ever experience something like that, first time only comes once.
nice job John, it was great to meet you
This is like the fifth time I'm watching this video today... Truly awesome job! I get so nostalgic :D
Memories... seeing this reminds me how little friends I have IRL. Vegas was great!
WOOHOO! Thanks! I am really glad. I wanted it to get this kind of response ! I watched it many times too because I miss all you people and being in Vegas with you and a 24 juggling hall..Sigh. Uffa meg...
Beautiful people,doing beautiful things.Inspiring.
Those are some GREAT memories indeed :) -OlgaKay
Such an awesome video! It really reminded me of the best parts of the convention. Just beautiful. It was great meeting you and I hope we'll bump into each other again.
Great video. You get a good vibe of the WJF experience, almost everything else as well as the juggling,.... and thats what its all about.
I love it..expecially the song!!! thanks for sharing!!!!
thank you very much ,john !! very nice video i enjoy it a lot
John, thanks for posting this ... it's a job well done and shows everyone another side to what the WJF is all about. Cap'n Mike Myrtle Beach, SC ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good video. Reminds me of the good times at WJFII. Hopefully I'll be able to make it next year. It's always such a bummer to go home after such good times.
one of the best videos what i ever seen! great work john!
Wow, this video changed my views about the wjf completly. Next year i'll TOTALLY be there. Looked like a fantastic convention!
Very good video. It really makes me want to get to a WJF.
Thanx for sharing!
Awh John! That convention was so awesome, Thanks for posting this video, I look forward to seeing you again :)
Fantastic video John! Yes, the convention was indeed incredible, and I hope I can get to see one again in the future. For now I think I'll relax for a while with some hardcore ball juggling practice.
Super John!
Okay,it looked really awesome, but when i saw Sondre do it in real life,it was even more amazing!
As always, a great video! That just makes me wish I'd gone!
can't stop watching this video John. its so nice!. looks like a nice convention, i wich i could come. but it's to expensive. and now i got this song in my head to...
Heya Isaac, Yeah I was hoping you would be there. People at WJF were talking about your mad skills. And, your video of that "new shoes" song is my favorite juggling music video ever.
This video rules. So much.
wow! nice video John!!!thanks for sharing
Woot! Fun video, John.
"...i like this video!" No surprise, you appear in it so often! :-)
Hey John. Great video. Great editing. I now have a camera and editing software. You need to come to Atlanta to show me how to use them and to juggle. :-)
I really miss jugglers now...and then I mean: I REALLY MISS JUGGLERS!! I have to go to Wjf a year I can afford it! Thanks for the video John! And to Sondre: Nice beard ^^
awesome video! and yes, my hands are still sore...
Yeah, I remember hearing it playing there.
Thank you so much for this video John, I was going to go there but the US Embassy here in Peru denied me the visa, so I couldn't... Hope to meet all of you soon!! 5/5 and favorite.
I love this vid! looks like so much fun.. unfortunaly in germany you can´t watch the competitions on tv, so i can only check the results without seeing any routine :(
great composition
"Bruises" by Chairlift. It was at that mall all the time, and Joelle and Cecilia kept singing it and giggling..hehe. Charmed me. so i looked it up online. They have it at iTunes store.
Oh yeah, i remember that song. In that iPod commertial.
That's Michael Falkov. He's a good guy, really smart, brilliant at juggling and super strong, and does great handstands. The song lycric, "every time I fell" does NOT apply to his awesome skills.
Yeah me too.. at least YOUR friends live in the States! mine are mostly overseas. Thanks for all the laughs and help with tricks! when's Montreal?
YEAH! finally someone noticed where I got the song.. And yeah, that mall was the cheapest food nearby. Notice how well Joelle was getting the lipsync with no track at all!!
Nice video!
watching this in 2021 wanting to attend again sometime soon
It was not an endurance contest , just a little clip to show that there were a LOT of jugglers good enough to run 5 ball Mills Mess for quite a while. Thomas has the world record. Also, any real contests at WJF events would only be filmed by WJF staff. This stuff was just a little messing around on our own, during practice.
You know, I did that too when he arrived.
The competitions were only aired on ESPN in 2005 (not sure if in 2004 too). Everyone who wasn't there must buy the competitios dvd to watch them.
no it's a temporary tattoo that lasts about one month. So when Thomas gets asked, "can i see your DB97531?" he can just pull up his sleeve.
It sure is ^^
This video makes it look like there were almost an equal amount of women and men :P I remember the handstand song. It's nice to finally hear the whole thing.
Jeez, even after two and half months I still get the same feeling when I saw this for the first time. Not as strong but still... Aww shucks, now I'm all nostalgic and sad... ;_; But in a good way :)
IJA is held July 13-19 this year, and no date has been set for the next WJF championship.
Sad I couldn't go, looks like it was a great time. Maybe next year when I have $!
Hehehe... thanks ;) Yeah, this convention RULED. You MUST go to one.
Great Video John! 5 Stars! You in FL or SC?
Whoa. I thought you dropped off the face of the Earth, Mark. Are you still juggling? :-)
Good luck.
Well there were NOWHERE NEAR enough women. So, as a HUGE fan of women, I advertised that the women we DID have were AWESOME!! present company included. The handstand song is "Bruises" by Chairlift, Kanine Records. Buy it online!! support this cool new group...
Thanks! Although my skills are much "madder" on video. I need to juggle more...
I would like to have been there.. =(
😍
Sondre, are you trying to compete with Steve's awesome beard? Hehe And congrats on your ball/ring competition results!
man i wish i could have gone.. next year maybe
Really? That's great! WJF6 april 2010, here we come, eh?
I hope next year I could go
WJF holds world championship in juggling and uses an unique scoring system, while the IJA does not.
I want to go back :(
Touching video :] Is that tattoo real?
Haha! Nah, nobody can compete with him... maybe in a few years. And THEN I won't only win Advanced Balls, but also Best Beard!!
I just noticed, when Thomas is doing 6 glowballs, he is standing outside a liqour store.
are they held at 2 different times, and if so when this year?
what is the difference between the WJF and the IJA, are they the same thing?
Youre coming to Bergen the summer 2009?
ok, cool, so I may not be able to go to the IJA, but I more than likely will be able to go to the WJF.
At 3:41, was it a 5 ball mills mess endurance? If so,who won?
Did you ever find about Leesburg in Feb? I put out another multiplex video yesterday - check it out. Later
Ok ok, just wanted you to know that, now ou do, hehe. It is worth it for me, and it's not that they are expensive or something, but I respect your opinion. :)
And what is the name of the song?
He makes them himself. If you're going to BJC I can show you one.
Next year you should sell your house and come. It's worth it.
Haha :P
oh.. didn´t know that! but its not really worth it, to order the dvd because of all that currency stuff and so on... ;)
Nope. He bought me and him temporary tattoos for that week, over at Circus Circus. It was kind of a ripoff though... they faded pretty fast.
Hahahaha
lol
That wasn't Arash ;)
Sorry, neither.
*facepalm* what do you think?
Hey Bruce. Thanks for that! I'm in SC until somebody calls me for a gig down that way. Happy Holidays and New Year! Hi to fam.
