You cant expect a 70yr man to fight a 20yr dude😂 if you hear closely you can even hear them saying «the next technique…» Don’t take judo techniques lightly for that, if you get thrown like that full force to the ground and land on your back, you will NO DOUBT get winded

Judo is a very humble sport. No real judoka would call themselves "Master" or "Grand Master". The highest accolade a judoka can aspire to is "Sensei" or teacher. You will notice that the announcer referred to Mr. Bunasawa as Sensei. Also, while Jukkendo may use elements of Judo, it is not itself Judo.

I'm reminded of a karate match I read about in a book called a Martial Arts Catalog where it described a white belt karate fighter defeating all comers in the match. It turned out the fighter while a white belt was actually a black belt in judo and he simply followed along with the rules where the similar techniques found in both martial arts were applicable.

I have heard people say that judo is no good in the real world like when attacked by a thug for instance. I am evidence that judo is a very efficient means of self defense. When I was younger, fitter, stronger, I held a black belt in judo. (I am aware that a black belt in one code means something else in another so for comparison, my training schedule: 6 years, the last 3 years I trained 3 - 4 nights per week with the Kenzo Judo club, Brisbane, Australia) In my late teens, early 20s I used to get into a lot of fights: I was an angry young man who drank. Need I say more? This is nearly 40 years ago so I don't even remember the names of most of the throws. My favorite was probably a white belt throw, very fundamental: my left hand on the opponent's sleeve, my right arm goes around his neck as I turn and pivot, as he goes over my hip I release my feet and hit the floor on top of him, already in a ground hold. Time and again this worked for me. What this proved to me is that you don't need a lot of throws and holds if the ones you know are so ingrained that they are muscle memory, without thought. It also proved that judo is a very effective fighting method. Today I am much older, wiser, and calmer. I think I would probably hurt myself if I had to fight. But I know, intuitively, that if I needed to I could defend myself.

The best martial art is just to take multiple so doing something like taking a grappling based martial art like jiujutsu/judo/akikado and a full contact sport like kickboxing/boxing/mma would enable you to be able to avoid being locked down by grapples as much as you would taking a full contact sport and allow you to diversify because if you only did a grappling sport, you would go for the grapple so often that you become easier to read.

I trained 6 years, only 1m73 63kg ,from VietNam. I defeated some muay thai, boxing, vovinam, kickbox bigger than me. I can push a small hole in the thin brick wall with a punch ( also have video on facebook but doenst matter ) Krt teachs us how to take down, grab, hold skills too,not only punch, kick, eldbow. And i know a judoka can hit some one with power of the earth too, so dont talk like that, just keep practing, keep the heat in your heart. oss

If these posters would just say from the get-go "demonstration" then they would have less "thumbs down". Why is it you always see Judo, Aikido, Kung Fu, types as demonstrations against Karate or Tae Kwon Do or MMA and winning in the demo, but never the other way around. You'll never see a MMA or Karate guy in a DEMO against a Shaolin Monk. You may see a real fight, but not a demo where the MMA guy wins against a shaolin monk.

Honestly if we’re discussing the general outcome between a karate fighter and a judo one. I would say that it depends on the capability of the judo fighter because there are some that can read and perform grapples easily. A karate expert usually keeps to a stance and could be read which is why most people consider it a self defense sport rather than a combative one like the full contact sports(boxing, kickboxing, and mma). But it generally is about how good the judo fighter is at reading and how well the karate fighter responds.

Misleading title to this film. First of all its just a demonstration not a competiton between the two. Secondly, the Judo red/white belt is NOT a grandmaster, but either a rokkyudan (6th dan) or schichidan (7th dan).

It's an exhibition. As in, a showcase of different techniques. Have you even watched the video?
