This week’s Judicial Word of the Week is: Power of Attorney
Power of Attorney: A document signed in front of a witness and notary giving someone else the power to act on another’s behalf. A power of attorney may not be signed if the person signing is considered mentally incapacitated.
“The woman selling her car had to suddenly leave town for an emergency, so she signed a power of attorney to allow her friend to sell her car for her while she was away.”
