I don’t appreciate the fact the you edited parts of this speech. Every single word the judge said is important. Whoever edited this video did a horrible job. Back to the case. I agree with everything he said (even though you cut parts of it). Justice has been served and I believe this is appropriate to this case. I kept thinking about how Mr. Arbery must’ve felt while he was being hunted down like an animal and knowing he was trapped and about to die. This is very traumatic especially when I saw the video of what happened. My feelings of sadness and grief for this young man is nothing compared to what his family is going through. They will never see him get old, get married, have children of his own and just generally live the life he deserves. It is only appropriate that because of this, these men should lose their freedom. I hope they feel tortured that they will spend the rest of their lives in jail thinking about what they’ve done. Their actions affected everyone and it sets an example to think rationally before taking matters into your own hands. It also provides proof that racism and stereotyping is still prevalent in this country and no one can DENY THAT BECAUSE ITS THE TRUTH. It shows that we should and must do better to educate ourselves in order to stamp out ignorance and hate. If we don’t improve race relations, we are doomed as a society.

@@adventuregames424 Roddie absolutely appears as an idiot of the highest kind. He "angled" his truck at Ahmaud multiple times and expressed wishes that he had hit Ahmaud to avoid him being shot (intent). Roddie did not have the violent history established for the others. Still, he was every bit an accomplice and critical to the results. I've seen people that were only in the getaway car (as passengers) be convicted as accomplices. Roddie should absolutely have been tried as such. The judge sentenced him to life and the potential for parole was the only aspect up for debate (as it was stated weeks ago). Regardless, the story "Of Mice and Men" comes to mind. The big idiot had to die in the end because he would get worked up and harm people. Roddie did just that. Also, Roddie released the footage in attempt to claim innocence and blame Ahmaud. They all cooperated. Roddie was just stupid enough to not see there was an inside connection.

@@cameronno6039 I agree that he had a part in it and should be punished. I said that he should not have been tried with the father and son because his situation was a little bit different. He would have showed the video either way. The guy is not the brightest, he even stated that he didn't know if they should have been chasing the guy. He played a part in it but a different part then the other 2 did. Your example doesn't hold up because every situation is different. I have seen people in get away cars that got off completely because they had no idea what was going on, I have also seen some that got prison time as well. Every case is different and I just personally feel that roddie should not have been tried at the same time. The judge that everyone is praising even said that roddies case was a little different.

Equality before the law, under the law, in the eyes of the law is the sole principle that all people must be equally protected by the law. This principle requires a systematic rule of law that observes due process to provide equal justice, & requires equal protection ensuring that no individual nor any group of individuals be privileged over others by the law.

Why oh why are people teaching hatred towards people who are different from us, surely differences are to be celebrated. Prejudice is Learned, we are NOT born with this defect. Parents must STOP teaching their children negatives about others...accept people are not perfect, not everyone will be of your beliefs...accept difference. I feel such sadness about this tragedy, thanks for your statement Judge. ❤

I am very sorry for the death of Mr Arbery. The three men acted very rashly, but how on earth it justifies a life without parole sentence is beyond me. These guys thought mistakenly they were doing the right thing. One of them stayed in the truck and only took photos, and he got a life sentence for that. Mr Arbery was trespassing no doubt, that doesn't mean he deserved what he got, he didn't. However a life without parole should be reserved for the worst of the worst, whatever their faults these three aren't that. Everyone feels good, seemingly justice has been done, only it hasn't. The very same happens to Black's who get sentenced on many occasions way to harshly. There are way to many people in Prison in America as it is, as people are like sheep and buy everything the politicians and media want them to believe.
