I wonder if there is a word or phrase in chinese describing this genre: historical mystery or costume detective...? I love wuxia but oftentimes there's not enough in the plot to hold my interest other than who wins. I love detective stories in general and had been reading Dee's books for decades. This series is nicely set although I must say I have no clue which book it's based on. Anybody else knows?

A mix between wuxia and detective stories are Ancient Detective, Mysterious Lotus Casebook (though for some reason another series upload on youtube that wrongly in that name). Series involved Bao Zheng. The older tv shows tend to cover the opera/politics stuffs. I think Young Justice Bao 1-3 are good. Though if you read detective Conan, you can see plenty of plagiarisms in the show. There is also a Young Justice Dee series (as well as multiple films) involved Di Renji. There are some gay bait detective series like My Roommate is A Detective that took place in early modern day 1920s.
