She really isn't anywhere the level of the top players which is a shame really. She's only made a single century in competitive play. Women have far fewer matches but nevertheless 1 century is quite poor.

I am all in favour of men and women competing in the same tournament. There should be no separate men's and women's leagues.

What they're saying at 11:00 about the differences between the table - how is it that the build of the table would change the screw? I thought this would have been all down to the cloth that they use. Unless it's to do with table heating etc

And table heaters are set to a specific temperature as standard. It must literally just be a slightly different cloth, that's all. The pocket shape is slightly different too, despite being fitted to the same templates as any other pro tournament table. I think they're just being fussy tbh. Whatever tables a tournament uses, everyone has to play on the same tables and any differences must be tiny. There are also differences between the exact same tables on different days that they often bang on about. I actually find the modern culture in pro sport of for some reason wanting everything absolutely precisely exactly the same all the time so it doesn't upset their game to be utterly ridiculous. You're professionals and adapting to different tables, environments or whatever it is is part of being a professional.

@@adrianwright8685 Table heaters are used to keep the baize a consistant temp, usually around 21C° - 23C° Helps get unwanted moisture out of the cloth, better object ball contacts etc etc

looks like he put some right hand side on the cue ball, which in turn put some spin on red. i doubt these pro tables would have that much roll. either that or he just missed the ball pretty bad and we would rather blame the table than blame the player knowing his skill

It's because he was playing a grossly inferior player. Compare that with his match against O'Sullivan. Great players bring out the best in each other. That's why we spend time and money to watch it.

Its time they took the tour card away from Reanne. Shes simply not good enough on merit, regardless of gender. Shes a half decent club player at most

I'm afraid the number of 2 year tour cards for women is set to be 2/year under the current rules. So it would have to be snooker federation changing the rules on these, I don't think it's likely.

@@FransBlaas1 Not really, as it was against other females, and if she was the best, and can't even remotely compete against the men... i think that speaks volumes about the level of the females she beat to win those titles.... Similar to a lot of Female sports... they only win titles, against other women, stick them in the male side of the sport, and they will likely be lucky to win a match. Even someone like Serena Williams freely admits, that she would lost every single game, if she were to play on the men's tour, even at her peak.

@@wolfy10100 Imagine you try to get out of a snooker on a red. You miss the red (4 point foul) and the cue ball keeps rolling and hits the black. It now becomes a 7 point foul. Without consulting the rulebook (I'm too lazy) I'm 99% sure that's how it works. And this case is no different: the highest ball you foul on counts.

When she first qualified for the pro tour, it was after a season playing the English Amateur association's 'pro-ticket' tour. The top 2 of these (top 1 then another from play-offs) qualified as pros for the following season. She finished around 30th from 60 (I don't have the actual figures but it was something like that). These were arguably the best 60 amateurs in the country so anyone in the top 40 was a cut above who you would see in a local league, but there were 30-ish other amateurs who finished above her & did not get a tour card. I was a referee who ran tournaments at the time. Was/is she good? Definitely. Were there better players who failed to get a tour card when she was given one? Yes.

Judd looked at the draw an thought, oh, cool I have a day off, the thing is she' still the one getting featured in the women and she's not been at the top in years, since all these female players have been allowed to enter all the men's competitions and been given the opportunity to earn more in one competition than they get for a years worth of female tournament prize money, surely so the women have their equal rights, all the men should be allowed to start playing in all the female tournaments, they can't disagree with that. Evans has always had very poor positional play after a pot, it shows how shocking the women's game was that she was multiple world champion for so long when a half decent club player could beat her without trying

I know Reanne from my time as a referee on the amateur circuit. She competed on the English pro-ticket tour a few years ago (I don't think it exists any more due to the qualification process). The top 2 from this qualified for the pro tour the following season. There were about 60 players from all over the country so, at worst, 60 from the best 100 amateurs. She finished around 30 I think. So while I would agree that she was not the best amateur when she was given a pro ticket, she was way better than a 'half decent club player'. After 1-2 seasons on the pro tour, she looked noticeably sharper.
