Juan Ramirez's love of cars kept him out of trouble, led to his 1963 Chevy Impala | Why I Drive #23
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
If it hadn’t been for cars, Juan Ramirez knows, he would have had a very different life. After serving in the Air Force, Juan found himself a 1963 Chevrolet Impala with more than a few issues. But all the work he's put into his car over the years has done more than set him up with a sweet ride, it's brought strength, pride, and a sense of accomplishment to him and his family.

Great car, great story! Like Gypsy Rose these Impalas are timeless. I like Juan's approach to keeping it simple & classy. Kudos to him and his family. His desire for his son to carry on the tradition is admirable too.

I feel you brother, there is nothing like rolling a ragtop! My son is 18 months old and pulls me to the garage so he can sit in our 64 Impala SS and play with the steering wheel with the top down😁. Your 63 Impala is beautiful! My family and I enjoyed your video. Take care, AG
The fact that a car helped him and his friends stay away from trouble is one of the greatest things I have ever heard about the classic car world. Makes all the time that I spend on my stuff seem more than worthwhile. Great story. Great video.
That is a very nice car, Juan! You made a wise decision as a youth to get into cars and stay out of trouble. I wish you many thousands of miles of happy cruising with your family.
Me too. Classic muscle cars saved my life and gave me a new identity. I feel liberated as a man because of my passionate relationship with timeless muscle cars that always take me back in time to the good old days when life was not so complicated. Old cars always make my day wonderful and makes life so enjoyable. I'm forever grateful to the 1960s
Low rider culture represent! It's not my taste but there's so much of it here in Los Angeles that I have every respect for those passionate drivers and beautiful cars. This Impala is stellar.
I too have a 63 Impala. Bought it twenty five years ago because I missed the 63 Impala that I had in High school which was the thing which kept me out of trouble as well. Loved it and loved working on it.
Love it, my son and I are doing the same to our 66 Impala convertible and when he was speaking about working a 9-5, part by part, family working together... he hit the nail on the head.
I had an old crappy honda but when i was outside working on it my son and daughter always wanted to help me. Find something you love and can do together! I love the why i drive vids

Look what chevy did to the Legend.

FIRST CLASS VIDEO. I had a 1970 Chevelle SS. 396. Total resto. 1979-1981.Then I sold her. When I see ,video's like this makes me, wish I still had her. Thanks for posting.
You find one, you fix it up, & you get your son interested/involved in it...that's the ultimate allure of the classic car. Box stock or low rider, they have a place in a lot of people's hearts the modern, computer car just can't fit. You have my respect, Mr. Ramirez - for your service to America and your beautiful Impala.
Never had anything in my family like this, seems fitting for me to be the one to start it, thank God for old cars.
I I’m too Ramirez.... And my favorite car is a 63 Impala And my son is named Juan..... God bless you and your/ our family.......
Car guys and girls are the finest people on earth. They share a love for antique, classic cars that are pieces of Art. They say you can't buy happiness But you can buy cars and that's KINDA the same thing !! All the Power to You, Bro. ✌😎👍 p.s. I love my 63 impala too !!

Car's in those days was a work of art
Thank you Juan for choosing the right path in life. The car is beautiful! Love the simplicity with just the right touch of classy. Definitely a piece of the family. Also, thank you for not taking it to the junkyard after finding all the problems. Bringing it back to life and putting it on the road again shows how much you do have a love for the not just the car, but the culture and lifestyle of the community that you have. Keep spreading the love. I see your son has been blessed to continue the love you’ve shown. And not just for the car. 👍🏻👍🏻
*Almost brings tears to my eyes, that car's so beautiful... Truly work of art. Nice hearing these cars are passed down from father to son, etc. 100 years from now they should hopefully be around...*
That's it Juan, it's more about the family than the car & thank you for your service.
Cool guy, great car, awesome family.
The noise it makes is perrrrrfect
What a beautiful car. Not too flashy looking just right. I love the color of paint on it.
Thanks Juan and family (and Hagerty ), for a very special story. I've been a car/truck guy (30+) and motorcyclist (50+) since the late 60's. I understand the passion and spirit you (all) have. More people would benefit if they had the same as you, your family and myself. cheers Boots Langley La Mesa, ca
Eso, no one could have said it better; "FAMILY ". Wonderfully blessed.
This thing is ... JUST PERFECT
Got a 61 rag and building a 59 right now with my boy, everything you said is spot on!
Great inspiring story! Really like the 62's , 63's, and 64's! Great classy touches, your car is rolling art! The lowriders are an integral part of the USA car culture, thanks for appreciating, and preserving it!!
I’m right there with ya, working 12-14 hour shifts for my family and they gifted me something I’ve always dreamed of. A true American muscle, I know am the proud owner of a 1975 Jeep J10 360ci V8. It’s the best of everything I’m into. It’s got rust and needs work but every wrench turned is my own time on this earth spent on it, and see how excited my daughter got when she saw it, saying we’re are going fishing, camping, hunting. What more can a dad ask for.
My dad bought his 82 el camino working 3 jobs and now is mine! Time to turned it into a beast!
This entire video was pure beauty.
Beautiful thing brother God bless you and your family amen 🙏🏼
Juan, love your story Man! I have a 68 Impala Convertible that my son and I restored. These cars are loved by their families and they shape our families!
Such an inspiration for me to get going on my 68 impala I've has since high school. Married with kids and I have the financial gift to restore it . But lack in motivation and perseverance to start on it
Really is the BEST way to clear your head, was my favorite way to clear my head even when I had my 72. Looked like crap, had problems left and right, but the damn thing started and ran at the end of the day. Even how bad the body condition was, still had people stopping just to ask me about it and admire the car for what it was. When others admire something that "YOU" built on your own it's a huge reward in itself. Wrenching on a classic and driving it is the best meditation in my opinion, only speaking from experience. Great job on your 63! 👍
This car is absolutely perfect. So beautiful. - Thank you so much for sharing the story and video.
Beautiful car ,im very impressed about your story and the bond you have with your son beautiful.Tony from Canada 🇨🇦
I've watched this video at least a dozen times.... perfect video!
Very nice car and it's great that your kids were involved.
I really loved the 63 impala since I was a kid and like your dream as well I plan on getting me one, this is my favorite car ever. It's good to know that there's someone out there that have the same passion and dream as mine.
These keep getting better and better. Bravo!
Very well done Juan Ramirez on a great car, keeping out of trouble and showing your family a real life style and something to strive for. Thumbs up from me brother
Absolutely beautiful! I’ve always loved this style of low rider especially with 60’s impalas. Factory as possible with switches and all chrome 13x7 100 spokes! My 1984 coupe Deville was built with the exact same concept. Beautiful from factory with Daytons and switches but with a small block 350 swap in place of the 4100. It got stolen 15 years ago and never got it back! Thanks so much for sharing!!!!✨✨✨
Brings back memories. I was a child, my parents had a 64. In my early 20’s I relived my childhood. Buying a 64, light metallic blue , just like the one my parents had. Time stamp 3:25/ be careful when using tarry cloth rags when checking the fluids. I used to do it my self, until one day I noticed that fibers were left on the dip stick. And I almost inserted back in the holder. Motor contamination from the lose filters will take its toll on a engine block over time. Mechanic rags or T-shirt is better.

william III paper towel is okay, from your kitchen. Just make sure that the dip stick doesn’t have any paper fibers. The disposable blue shop towels avail at automotive shops don’t leave any fibers.
Ever since I was young I always loved 63-64 impalas especially low riders and this car is perfection 👏🏼👌🏼 I’d love to get one in the near future
Much love to you for keeping the tradition me and my dad loved and still love lowriders ima bout to get started on the restoration it’s been sitting for about 12 years he’s passing it on to me
It's good to see someone that understands, some automobiles are more than just things to go from point A to point B, I know mine is
Amazing story bro!!! I got a 64 had it for 12 years God bless
My Big Brother ordered a 1963 Chevy SS Convertible, 409/425 4 speed trans, Silver Blue w/Blue interior w/white top, Gosh I loved that car.
BURQUE!!! ORALE VATO!!! STYLIN'!!! Man, that is the CLEANEST paint job it is FIRE!!! Hagerty ROCKS! EXCELLENT PIECE!
Very special, glad there story in on Hagerty
Used to have a 63 in my early 20s. Same as you, it was a wreck when I got it, worked on it for a while and got her right. Used to cruise all night around town in it. Nothing compares it.
The first and most beatiful muscle car, love it.
This is the kind of man and car young men need today as role models and teachers...
Great story, great tradition.
Beautiful car. Something about convertible Impalas that's why I've got me one. The attention is amazing. THE ride is amazing. IT'S just such a beautiful machine and yes they all have names. Beautiful convertible man.
That color is smooth...makes the chrome pop!! Awesome family and video..thank you!
One Beautiful Classic 63 Impala!!👍👍✌😎
Love this video. I have a 64 hardtop and I swear the feeling is the same for me. Ridin is a way to relax and clear my mind. I find a new route every weekend to take. My 8 yr old daughter loves to cruise with me and looks forward to mr pickin her up from school in it every Friday lol
Very nice story. I like his quote "classy not flashy" That is what I think too. Also, liked that he is connecting to his boy through the car. Keep at it with the familia! I like the plaque too!
I had a triple black convertible in 1964. Got totaled. Got another in 1965 just like it. Both had 283’s with 3 on the tree. So I am a mega fan of the 63. I think it was the best of the 62 - 64’s. Long, sleek, cruiser. Beautiful My Friend. 👍🇺🇸🤙😃😎🤩✌️❤️
Congratulations I jus got my dream truck 65 c10 long bed working on it with my son lil by lil and man I'm in no rush to fix it only cuz I love the bond it brings between me and my son when we work on it. again congratulations brotha
