He is so humble and down to earth, he is someone worth looking up to. I would love to have him back at Chelsea in any capacity.

The name’s Bond, Juan Bond
Fantastic interview, thoroughly enjoyed
He should’ve said something about his overhead kick against Liverpool a few seasons back just to see Russell’s reaction
Whichever club you support, it's hard to dislike this man. Proper gent, classy footballer..

Theres only Juan Mata!
For someone that played for that joke of a club called Chelsea I have huge respect for him
Juan Mata scored his greatest goal in the premier league
😍😍😍
Hahahaha "I don't know if you've ever tried to outrun Mo Farah" 😂
Did this remind anyone else of the hunger games with the whole smelling thing??
Nice guy even if he does play for United!!
He sounds like a kinder, smaller Pep Guardiola
Anyone had a tough mudder ad?😂
I see a lot of people making jokes about Juan Mata's name in English, but Juan Mata in Spanish literally means "Juan Kills".
Is this good news or is that not running anymore? I used to watch it about 6 or 7 years ago.

IM SO EARLY!
Klopp sent me here
I mean, don't get me wrong, 1% is better than 0%, but, Premier League footballers earn a LOT of money. It could be a bit more (imo)
wow im early
Looks like Passenger.
Juan Mata is God
I was the 900 like
I think this is an absolutely amazing thing to do. One question though (and please, someone who knows more about footballer's salaries inform me) why only 1%? I mean, when you consider how many millions footballers earn a year... Even 5% would be £/$10,000s each, and they could do so much more with that... Is it because footballers are unwilling to give that much to a charity that's just starting, which is sort of fair, or is it because (and I really doubt this) they pay a hell of a lot of tax and have some damn expensive bills to pay?
@lagisreal5354
6 жыл бұрын
Olivia McDonagh Even at 1% you're a lot into the £10,000s from each footballer. Some footballers earn hundreds of thousands each week, I think Neymar earns around £775,477 weekly. 1% of his yearly salary would end up looking over £400,000. This is without endorsements and other assets that he may have. 1% adds up to a lot cumulatively.
@joshuasmart_

Thousands of players are part of this charity so they make alot annually.
@MattJames1958

Very few footballers make millions per year and a lot make their own charitable donations anyway as Mata alluded to at the start, just the other day Wayne Rooney donated £750,000 to children's charities
@Glanrafon317
6 жыл бұрын
Olivia McDonagh tbh I agree with you most footballers could afford to donate more than 1% but of course it's their money at the end of the day and they may do however they wish. And as some have said already when you combine the total donated by several footballers (particularly those on higher wages) the charity still receives a great sum of money, if you had a lot of footballers on 100k a week donating 1% of their annual salary then the charity will be booming. But I do think that donating 5% would be well affordable for them.

I'm sending this comment again because I wrote another one and I was completely wrong, but I made some research: First of all, Juan Mata wants to make charity, not politics. That money is money they have earned, whether we like it or not (I personally don't lol), so he respects how and where that people wants to spend THEIR money. He's asking for a ridiculous amount that, put together, could move the whole world. Secondly, not all footballers make millions. There are sooo many football players out there. Here in Spain we have smaller football teams that despite being in the highest league, earn as much as a politician, I'd say. Levante UD is the fourth "worst paid" (i wish i was paid that bad lmao) team in Spain and they make an average (I believe each one earns a different amount) of 760,000€ per year which is a lot: 63,000€ every month. 1% of that amount equals 630€, which seems very little, but if you bear in mind that there's 22 footballers in every team that makes a total of 13,800€ only from one of the "poorest" teams in Spain. Gareth Bale alone makes 15M a year. Imagine how much money the Real Madrid could add up. Keep in mind that Spain is a big football power too, so in another countries players may make less money.
Lol 1 percent of humans salary is 89000 maddddd
1%? 50% would be better. I know that sounds like I'm being harsh, but when you make that much money you can afford to share it with those less fortunate.
@Wicks91

They do get taxed nearly 50% if their wages (UK) so that wouldn’t leave them with much. It’s also a short career.

Why cannot people be satisfied it is a good thing whether it being small or large chunk of money? A good deed is a good deed...
@FiNiZxLegend

You need to understand how money works, if plenty of worldwide footballers put 50% of their wages towards the same charity, the money would end up being worthless. The point of the organisation is that every player commits 1%, it’s an example of the metaphor “every little helps”
This guy is truly amazing; I have a lot of respect for him. More footballers should aspire to be like him; more kids should be looking up to him.
