Dieter Florian ,Florez versteht die Worte in ihrer Bedeutung, legt deshalb sein ganzes Gefühl hinein, sodass es sogar besser klingt, als wenn es so mancher Deutschevorträgt, Es passt also gut zur Operette. Kein Ausländer versteht das und kann sich auch kein gültiges Urteil erlauben.

Songeloso/John Eunson/Vikram I also think German is a fiendishly difficult language to sing, unless one is German/Austrian. Like Songeloso, I listened to Florez and Netrebko singing Kalman`s operetta, and thought they sounded uncomfortable. As Florez has chosen to make Vienna his main base, I suppose it is inevitable he will be pushed to sing more in German. Personally, I much prefer hearing him in Italian, Spanish and French....and even English!

Ifmusicbethefoodoflove Egc ,This emotional song out of Lsnd des Lächenlns cannot be compared at all with czardaszfürstin. It's a pure song of love to a Person standing in front of himself. JDFlorez knows very well what he is feeling and singing.

Ein Stimme für grössere Aufgaben, schade das nur dieses Miniorchester im Hintergrund spielt, mit 80 Musiker dahinter ist es eine grossartiger Auftritt

I don't know wheter the room has acoustic design like an Opera House. But it was in a closed space, there were only a few string instruments, the sound was not too loud. Why did he feel the need to use the amplifier?

Juergen Steinfurth das funktionierte gut, weil bei ihm zu Hause in Wien deutsch gesprochen wird, Florez lernt deutsch von seinen Kindern und seiner Frau, eine glückliche Fügung!

Hallo Jürgen, Luciano hatte eine große Stimme ohne Zweifel, aber die Vielfalt, die Juan Diego bietet ist wohl einmalig, das italienische Fach sowieso und jetzt das Französische, s. Les Hugenotten 4 Std. Franz.. Text Singen von Rossini ganz zu schweigen, der Luciano hat wohl auch nie Rossini gesungen, mir nicht bekannt.

+John Eunson + Vikram Bal - I'm not an expert so I would put it like this: It seems to me that this aria is difficult for JDF because it's mostly written in relatively low register which together with very long legato lines gave JDF a hard time. I also think that he sang it to please the audience (Lehar in Austria!) and undoubtedly his voice sounds strained. This has been a problem for some two or three years now and I'm very worried, too, as I'm a great fan of JDF. I think he has been simply working too much and choosing a risky repertory both within bel canto area ("La Favorita" - though it was a great success, "Guillaume Tell") and from outside of it ("Les Pecheurs des Perles", "Rigoletto" - though I love his "Parmi veder le lagrime"). It's interesting and funny that operetta, being a lighter repertory, maybe rather troublesome for operatic singers (question of specialisation, I think). In a New Years concert held in Munich in 2014 JDF and Anna Netrebko sang highlights from Imre Kalman's "Die Csardasfurstin". IMHO both of them had vocal troubles and JDF seemed to feel very uncomfortable. I didn't like this performance (available on YT) of them at all. Songelosodelzefiro Don't worry about the pronounciation, the Hungarian slang hasn't such a clear one, in an Operette a little strange sound is just wanted, but Florez sang the German text very exactly in Kalman's Czardazfürstin. The Bildnis- aria is just the contrary, It has to be spoken and accentuated more than correctly, it's opera.

Songelosodelzefiro, this Sylvester- concert 2014 of Dresden was really good, Breslik, from Bratislava was naturally best (70km to Vienna). The enormously difficult German text (I am german) with such a lot of consonants - following one after the other - was managed extremely well by Florez, less by Netrebko. In the middle-loge sat the Grand daughter of Kalman, who stood up spontaneously giving grand applause at the end - the camera exactly caught this very point of view to show her - with blonde hanging hair. I was lucky to listen an Interview with her some times later.

Songelosodelzefiro In Vienna there is no way out for learning and singing operettes, JD will get used to the GERMAN language in his daily life. it's important for Operasinger to speak German to German people, otherwise he will not be known finaly our country. The elder people ars not able to understand English, They want to hear the language of their country.

Typisch JDF, mit der nötigen Melancholie gesungen, gefällt mir viel besser als vom dt. J.K.

Ingrid Wild , mir gefällt Kaufmann viel besser, weil, Kaufmann es singt was es ist, ein Lied und keine Arie , übrigens die Mimik von Florez ist zum Abgewöhnen.

He is of course a great singer, but this was too slow, and should also be sung in a slightly lighter manner. I know Jonas Kaufmann's voice production is controversial in some circles, but he is very good in this Viennese repertoire. The best in my opinion was Richard Tauber. Basically: this is a sentimental love song, not a grand opera aria!
