What a thrill to find this. I was there, and Florez was fantastic, both in the operatic arias and the Neapolitan/Italian songs. The small ensemble in the latter hardly needed a conductor. I call Florez the Alchemist of opera, because he takes a breath, and pours out notes of pure gold!

Según Gabriel García Márquez, esta canción tiene "la pava", vale decir mala suerte. Y según el autor de El teatro de tu sangre en la nieve, El Titanic se hundió porque la orquesta empezó a tocar esta pieza musical.

operadog2000 I think about his rendition recorded for a movie (available on YT). Generally I think it's a pity that Hollywood machinery spoilt his vocal work in a way. It was a powerful voice, really. But thanks for the suggestion. I shall look for this studio rendition. Regards.

I agree with you about Hollywood. However, Lanza has his place in history, and I think that he has touched and influenced more people through his movies and records than he ever could have had he only been an 'opera star.'
