I learned about the panopticon in a legal theory course. My favorite part is that Jeremy Bentham, the English Philosopher who invented it, requested that his remains be preserved to watch others. His preserved body is displayed with a wax head in the UCL's Student Centre. He described this idea as the auto-icon, or being one’s own icon in the preservation of death. In this installation of his remains, they installed the “panoptiCam” which surveys people and their reactions to his auto-icon. So Jeremy is watching you post death. And his installation is watching you watching him. I think he must have been fun at parties.

I first learned of Jeremy Bentham because it's the name John Locke uses when he gets off the Island in LOST and then he came up again in an ethics class (Islamic Studies were compulsory for Muslim students but if you weren't Muslim you were still required to take some class for the credits and so us Kafirs got Ethics instead) and so a dozen years later he's still my second favourite philosopher 'cause the utilitarian calculus goes hard.

They have their own podcast, Almost Friday Pod, that isn't very popular because Almost Friday/Friday Beers is a weird company but they are always hilarious and do the funniest characters. Overall I think their comedic timing would mesh really well with The Yard boys
