This a wonderful edit that showcases Jrue's fairly unique interdiction of the ball. I was talking to someone who was complaining about how Jrue is the only guy who gets away with these moves without getting called, and I pointed out that I think it's bc the ball is almost always coming out, fast, in the direction that Jrue is moving. Whether that's stripping the ball in that hollow space, bursting into the space the offensive player wants to go to and punching it out with his outside hand, or sliding and stripping it with the pinning inside arm, Jrue is almost always in control, and can usually take the ball in his next stride. There's such a clear visual indicator that he's played the ball - because it is shooting out in whatever direction he is moving - the refs arent inclined to notice whatever incidental contact occurred. Not sure it's possible to replicate if someone doesnt have his spooky hand-eye coordination, and his balance - Holiday's handle is sublime, and his ability to settle deflected and kicked balls with a quick, one-handed dribble, all while changing direction at speed, is unlike anyone I've ever seen play. Great video, coach!
I was waiting for this video years... Thank you❤

I was waiting for this video for years. Even commented asking if you could make one about jrue. Thank you
Jrue is so good! Still can't believe the Bucks cut him loose and he ended up in Boston. Bucks fans still trying to convince themselves it was a smart trade but Jrue is exponentially better than Dame on defense to a degree that can't be overcome by Dame's offense. Jrue is just so good at everything on the court especially, as you show here, on defense. Great work!

Facts, the bucks will so much regret trading jrue holiday. They literally traded one of the best defenders of all time

The Bucks over reacted after Jimmy Butler went off on him. I wonder if Giannis is also to blame for the trade as well.
I needed this a lot thanks Brodie.
Good job highlighting Jrue's defensive talent. There's a reason that some of the best offensive players in the NBA consider him the best on-ball defender in the league. According to guys like PG and KD, it isn't even that close either. Beyond that, Jrue is just a guy that does what it takes to win. Watching his passes, shot selection and defense, the guy just has a sky-high basketball IQ on both sides of the ball.
Definitely was waiting on this one for years now!
Thanks for the work Coach
Thank you! Great video as usual I hope you make a Derick White blocks video or how in general how guards can get blocks. Thank you again for your channel
LETS GO JRUE HOLIDAY

Amazing video. Hoping to incorporate some of this into my game as well. Any chance we can get a Jalen Suggs video?
never would have thought that defense could be cooler than offense (in any field), but then I heard of Jrue Holiday...
Show me how to clamp it down Jrue style coach. Time to take notes!

I will never understand why teams keep trading this guy. He is exactly what you want in a point guard to the tee

Because bad gms don’t realize the impact of good defense until they don’t have it… mavs are about to learn that one after giving up DJJ to get klay

@@LockdownDefense Right... It's only worth it if the offensive player is your 1 or 2 option offensively, taking 25 plus shots a night. You can make up the difference there (hence why luka is considered by most a top 4 player)... but Klay gonna shoot like 10-13 shots a game. He's gonna need to hit at a 50% + clip AND basically only shoot threes for them to make up the difference there and that's just on an individual basis, not accounting for the combined atrocity that luka+Kyrie+Klay perimeter defense will be. I have a feeling by the end of the year you'll see a lot more of grimes or whoever their best wing defender is playing the key minutes late and they will ultimately regret the move - especially considering his age.
No wonder Kyrie had a hellish Finals. Dwhite and Jholliday are demons on defense

You should watch the Garnett, Hakeem, Whiteside videos!
YESSSSSSSS!
This why LaMelo always has Jrue on skates 😂. His whole defense is predicated on waiting for you to switch the ball to your other hand while he is riding your hip (Kobe has a good instructional vid in this method), and also “beating” players to their spot, reaching in, and hoping the refs don’t blow the whistle. Guards who can easily dribble behind their legs give him fits.
Pro tip. Be an elite level freak athlete and defense will be easy.
Do 1 of davion mitchell he n elite defender
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So coach would you say his defensive stance is more upward stance to stay between the ball and the basket or a classic because he doesn’t have a forward stance
@LockdownDefense

I would say more classic. Because he is still pretty low but not leaning forward

My you plz do Giannis next
While all of these techniques might seem to be really effective. To pull these off you need exceptional conditioning and innate physical talent. Running sideways and backwards, as fast as the opposing offensive player, keeping balance still, require great core strength and those swipe steals require long arms
They gotta put bro steal animation on 2k. Nobody stealing the ball on ball defense like that consistently.
Let's just say Jrue is not lazy on D and doesn't flop.he does the normal that most players should do.
Good to see this defense is allowed in nba, in fiba he would be out for 5 fouls in 2 minutes for those hip checks
Holiday is so strong that he can chest stop Hachimura and Randles
and the bucks think they have a better chance with dame😂😂😂
First
Mavs fans called him a role player who won’t have an effect of the game. 😂😂😂 I swear mavs fans are the biggest casuals ever! Locked on Mavs host compared Jaylen Brown to Lou Dort and Mcdaniels on the Wolves!! Saying JB can’t defend like them! 😂😂😮😮😮 what?!?!!?!? Ok just wait lol.
