Seen a 42A(paperpusher) give me shit for having a ink stain on my top granted we were going on a mission that day so I didn't wear my garrison uniform because I'm gonna be running around in the sand. Man completely got in my ass in the most extra way possible yelling. 8 hours later I was on a Blackhawk with my Nods on going to recon an area 24 hours before the rest of my unit pushed into the area because I was in sniper section. Meanwhile that mf was in his air conditioned tent nice and safe either on his computer or sleep. Sorry that was alot but you can tell some people were bullied in their life and joined the military then had the audacity to join a non combat job to try to bitch people just because they're unhappy with their job 🤔 Edit:I low key vented but that pissed me off because I've seen the same guy do the same thing to other people but he couldn't even keep up when we went on a battalion sized ruck I watched him fallout. There are plenty of generals who can't qualify to save their life. They spend their life behind a desk. But operationally, tactics and strategy require a lot of on the ground planning. One of the greatest strengths of the US military is the NCO: a leader capable of making decisions on the ground without permission from higher up. So, again, if he really thought "the military doesn't encourage thinking" then he was probably a soup sandwhich.

I'm 3rd generation military. I did 20 years in the Navy. The first 6 years were in the fleet. I hated the fleet, and the fleet hated me. This is the only time I thought about getting out. However, while on my last deployment on board the USS Never Pull Into Port, I saw some beared guys on these small, fast boats with guns all over them. They were Naval Special Warfare Combatant Crewmen (SWCC). I was inspired to get myself to SWCC school. I spent the rest of my 20 in NSW, loving life. I, too, was deployed to Kuwait and Bahrain. It was indeed often 120-140°. However, we only stayed at the finest hotels, hung out with Gulf Air flight attendants, and got into the best clubs. Flip flops, shorts, Sig P226s, and GShocks were our standard uniforms. I wore civil clothes and a beard while deployed, and often while in the U.S. but during out of state pre-deployment training. The moral of the story, if you join the military, plan to do whatever it takes to get into Special services, regardless of branch. If you aren't smart and fit enough for the more Special services, go to junior college, then transfer to a 4yr university.

You have 3 types of people in the military. You got the people who do one enlistment just to get benefits and learn a skill, then get out. You have the person who wanted to get out a long time ago, but they have so much going on. I mean like they have a family and a brand new car but won't leave the military because they couldn't support all of that in the civilian world. So they stay in for the finances, get burned out, and take their rage on lower enlisted for no reason. Then, you have the very few amount of people who adjust extremely well to the military. They like the structure and order. These people can be hit or miss. They either care about the people under their command and are competent at their job. Or they will take advantage of others to backstab and climb the ranks to pad out their pension.

Former Marine. He’s telling the truth. The majority of military members are just interested in furthering their own career, and will literally step on your head to get a rung above you. I joined for the camaraderie, and boy oh boy was I surprised.. Couldn’t get out quick enough after I figured out what it really was.

I hated the military 11 years was way to long shit sucks the life out of you, but they get you to be dependent on the military it’s like an abusive shitty relationship. He spoke nothing but truth. Met the best and worst people I’ll ever meet. So many mixed feelings about that time of my life.
One thing I’ve heard from a vet: in a lot of ways the military population is similar to back home. You can and will find people from every walk of life in there. Some there for right or wrong reasons or like this man said, easiest way to survive for some.
Military is great for young men with no direction. My brother was an all A student… but had zero clue what he wanted to do and joined the service to figure it out. It’s not just for people with poor grades.
Man this is some of the realest shit.

Word, spoken from a wise man not afraid to speak his mind & possibly get negative feedback for it. Ppl hate to hear the truth 😂
He forgot to mention if you don’t wear sunglasses your eyes dry out
The only wrong thing he said was Kuwait being a deployment. There’s a chili’s on the base. 🤧

Or they will take advantage of others to backstab and climb the ranks to pad out their pension.
to me the only ppl that are able to say they hate the military are ppl who were in the military

Why? I hate the military as an institution just like I have the police as an institution, yet I’ve never been involved in either.
My ex roommate is a great example of what he speaks of. Told me he only joined to legally kill people. Thankful to be no longer under the same roof.

I tell people as soon as I stepped off the plane in Iraq it was like someone was blowing a hair dryer in my face and I couldn’t get away from it.

It upsets me how much ppl hate on Baltimore. Love this place and will admit yes parts of the city I never goto but there is always parts of every city you're in. For example grew up closer to Annapolis, which in fact has the highest per Capita of section 8 housing in any small city. But ppl don't realize this
I can't say anybody this but yeah accurate, my first was Kuwait too
Bruh you got off that plane and your boots immediately start melting to the tarmac it's nuts. I'm thinking, "oh it's just because we're next to the planes engines, that's why this wind is so strong and hot" No

@@balloe3466 they used to send you to another cooler part of the region for a week before you get there, to acclimate to the heat. but I think they stopped doing that. There's AC and cooling fans and tubs of water probably every 500 ft. Giant pallets of bottled water are placed everywhere too, if you get thirsty or dizzy there's usually water close by.

The thing about the military is everyone’s experience can be completely different. Obviously it can depend on leadership, MOS etc. But the military is definitely for the people who don’t fit in with regular society a whole lot
