Good point, but I think the 8 knot doesn't need a stopper knot. Im not quite experienced to confirm it jejeje

@@colifloralimenticia3420 The figure 8 knot is a perfectly safe knot on its own as long as it is correctly tightened. The stopper knot is taught for two reasons : - it ensure that you have enough tail behind your figure 8. - it helps managing the tail if its too long.

@@benji7891 I disagree with this reason mainly because if someone ties a figure 8 wrong, this someone shouldn't climb. You know how to tie a knot or you don't. There is and must be no middle in this aspect of climbing. If you know how to tie a figure 8 correctly then the stopper knot has the only two puproses I described because, again, it is perfectly safe on its own.

Moonti I agree with your sentiment, but please don't tell me that you expect yourself in your whole climbing life to tie your fig 8 perfectly, everytime. If you do, I applaud you, but I know for a fact you'll tie it wrong once, and you might not even notice. So therefore, by your reasoning you shouldn't be allowed to climb, and neither should I because I know I will do it at some point. You might think there should be "no middle" in this, but there is, it's called human error and it's completely normal, sometimes catastrophic, but by tying a stopper knot, you're stopping human error killing you the one time in your life that you tie your fig 8 wrong. The other two you mentioned are great reasons, but this is the main one. Safety always comes before convenience.

The "just don't unclip the top one" when B's right at the top gave me so much anxiety haha.

Some important tips: - Beware of backclips, they are so damn dangerous! - When toproping, please make sure to use at least one or two of your own clips at the top. Only use the anchor-carabiner alone when someone does the last run. This will prevent erosion on the carabiner that everyone uses. It is kind of an unwritten social rule I ofter hear climbers do. - Learn toprope conversion. Right now when you are toproping, you are hanging onto 1 carabiner. Conversion makes sure you use all anchor points if something happens to give, thus always having a backup without leaving any gear. - Finally, all though you didn't do this in the video, make sure to watch your feet. As a rule of thumb, never put your heel or more behind the rope. This can cause some painful burn marks and flips during your fall because the rope will wrap around you leg.

exactly my thoughts. Edelrid isnt sure about backclipping anymore as a problem, but ... use your own biners is the first rule in outdoor spots. it is pissing me off ... but yeah its youtube, its fun, its lifestyle ... F** that.

@@andyjcoop it doesn't double your fall distance, that is z-clipping. Back clipping makes it so the rope can possibly come unclipped in certain cases

@@Thrusthamster At 19:58 he takes a quickdraw from his harness and just clips into that the chain at the top then lowers off. Like sure it works and it's not unsafe but it's not really the done thing, you really want a screw-gate or opposing carobinas

So crazy you're allowed to climb in that cave with cave drawings. Here in Australia they dont let us climb on anything near even the smallest sign of cultural significance. Government has no trust in climbers and we're losing more and more climbing as the weeks go by 😞
