I don't want to take away from the beauty of this song and how excellently it was presented. Phelo wrote a song that will live forever, imo. Equally beautiful, is what we are seeing as the choir sings. The beautifully human stuff that is happening apart from the music itself. If you watch the whole show, you will see that at some point the alumni get tired, which is understandable. However, when this song comes on it's like the reflection it offers injects energy into them and it shows on stage. Also, I noticed that as the songs went on, the choir filled the stage even more. If that was a deliberate production choice, it was brilliant. Lastly, I know we sing to primarily give God glory but secondarily, we sing to speak to each other, to edify and fill each other up. This served as a "passing the torch" kind of moment and it is beautiful to see how their journeys intersect. The existing members clearly see the value of their forerunners whereas the forerunners can celebrate that their work was not in vain. Whoever did the production, kudos! 🙌🏽
