Jowar Khichu: A Simple, Easy & Delicious Sorghum Khichu Recipe (NOT Papdi No Lot)

Jowar Kichu is the Indian breakfast made with some basic ingredients. Gujarati Jowar (Juvar) Nu Khichu is an excellent gluten free snack. Since Jowar is already low in potassium, Jowar Kichu or Sorghum Khichu can be made with less salt and less fat to serve as renal diet for kidney care patients. Indian Jowar Flour Khichu or Sorghum Flour Khichu is also known as Jowar No Khato Lot in Gujarati. Jowar Khich should not be confused with Papdi No Lot or Surati Locho since those are made using rice flour.
Khichu is a traditional snack made from various whole grain flours like rice, bajra, jowar, nachni, etc. Jowar Nu Khichu is made from Sorghum flour mixed with curd and flavored with the cumin, ghee and a dash of green chilies. The dish is served with sprinkled Aachar Powder or Koro Sambhar Powder or Chaat Masala or Seasame Seeds on the top to enhance the flavor. Jowar Khichu is served warm.
