Journey to Unbound
Спорт
Follow along as PEARL iZUMi athlete, Marley Blonsky takes on her first century ride in the Gravel Graceland of Emporia Kansas.
I always felt like an imposter, having never actually ridden a century in my entire cycling career. I set the goal of completing the Unbound Gravel 100 and wasn’t entirely certain I could do it. While maintaining a 10mph doesn’t sound that hard, I really like to take breaks while riding - Marley.

This really speaks to me on so many levels... like I literally cried the entire video. I've been overweight my entire life and although I've recently lost nearly 85 pounds and plan on 60 more I know what the journey on and off the bike in life is. Never.... NEVER.... under ANY circumstance.... give up. Keep. Moving. Forward. I love cycling!
100 miles on gravel, in adverse conditions is absolutely no joke. Probably equivalent to 150+ on the road with favorable conditions. And she did it with a smile on her face. Respect!! Marley is exactly what cycling needs - thanks for being so inspiring.
A hundred miles on pavement is something to be proud of. A hundred on gravel is even more difficult. Nothing but respect. 🤙
This had me smiling the whole time. I had given up on my dream of riding a century, but this is the inspiration I need.
Truly amazing Marley killed it - I did my first 100 miler last year ended up with 5 gravel centuries by the end of the year ANYONE can do this you just have to pedal, eat, drink and SMILE
Her smile is contagious and love her positive outlook! Feeling inspired 🎉
Thank You! I am a youtube cycling video addict and while there are there are many amazing videos on youtube, this is the best. Just got back from a ride this morning after watching this video and have to say, it was the most fun I have had on my bike lately. Couldn't stop smiling. Again, Thank You Marley!!!!!
I've been a serious cyclist for 50+ years and do you know what inspires me? You inspire me. Brava!
Truly inspirational. I am riding my first century in 10 weeks in memory of my best friend who sadly passed away from a long cancer battle, I have never ridden far before but determined to get there. 🤞
I remember meeting you at breakfast the day before the race. solid accomplishment!!!
Omg. Watching that brought me tears and pure joy!!!! You inspire me to want to do a century one day. You go woman. 🌟🌟
I always love to check videos from upbeat and enthusiast riders like Marley.
Way to go Marley. You inspiring me and I've done over 40 centuries!!!!!
Well done, Marley, and thank you for the perfect timing! My first century ride will be in 5 weeks and I've been losing my confidence. I'll watch this video again for inspiration a day or two ahead of my ride. Keep on killing it, Marley!
As Rod Stewart says, " My respect for you immense", you are a rock star ! Fantastic job on a challenging century.
SO impressive, congratulations and thanks for the inspiration.
I have been about 25 lbs overweight most of my life. In my youth I managed to eek out several centuries on the road. Now in my late 40s, I am still active but no longer able to do more than 30 miles (yet). I will plan for centuries again but only after I keep up with biking for two more years. This woman is a tour de force on her bike.
This was powerful and I’m happy and will continue to support Pearl Izumi because of this. It’s videos like this that sets you apart 👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Great job Marley. Just reminded me how I felt after finishing my first 200km brevet. Next few days you're walking around not needing to do ANYTHING usefull, cause, you know... You've earned it 😊
Relatable, real and empowering! 🎉
AMAZING!!! Marley you are PURE INSPIRATION!!!❤
Amazing. Always an achievement to go that far! Motivate the world!
You go girl!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ (I’m a back-of-the-pack rider, too. And love it!)
Very positive vibes and a great accomplishment.
You are such a great inspiration for all people to get out and ride (and have fun)!!!
This is awesome, however you look at it. Absolutely superb.
This is so sick! Great job, and on your Mid South effort, too!
Awesome!! Way to go!!
Why did this almost make my shed some tears?!?! Awesome job on not just completing that route, but also doing a wonderful job of documenting the journey!!!
Fantastic achievement, Marley. Keep banging that drum, the world of cycling needs it. 👍
I just did a 42km cycle and that was exhausting...but this makes me want to try a century ride of my own
So rad!!! Well done 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Fantastic video and message....celebrating one of the real winners of Unbound!
Fantastic job !
Marley you are my hero!! I’m doing 3 rides this year. Each one is 40. Holy cow you did a century!!!!! I’m bowing 🙇♀️
Thank you, Marley. Such an inspiration and that smile of yours…love it. Congratulations 🎉Keep going.
Marley, you're a badass! 100 mile on the pavement is hard enough but completing a century on gravel takes it to another level! You are amazing. "with these thighs"
You are AWESOME! I smiled so much watching you accomplish 100 miles! YOU ROCK!
Marley, you’re paving (or unpaving more correctly) a path for all bodies. Love it ❤
Amazing!!! You are cool!!!
Awesome!!!
Cool video! I recall the shoe being a much bigger challenge on the day of the ride. 🤣 Keep crushing it. Congrats on Unbound and congrats on your Mid South finish as well.
YOU ROCK!!!
Awesome!!! Love seeing these videos- motivating and inspiring!
Good job! ❤
Amazing, Marley! I know how tough I found doing 100k on road, so 100 miles of gravel… huge respect💪🏼
Well done Marley! Incredible accomplishment. Your determination is inspiring to every one!
Don't need to drink that much water. It just bags you up and you feel like a sloshy mess. about 2 litres on a normal 18*c day. bring a high sugar drink for the last 3rd as that when you start to die. Don't drink sugar at the start or you will crash half way and and more sugar won't help. Start with a healthy light breakfast and then Flapjack as snacks after that and if you are carrying your food a Scotch egg (depending on size) is a great protien snack / dinner. Then last 3rd is chocolate and sugar drink with water break or you'll dehydrate. don't over eat or over drink you will want to stop and rest too much and get bagged up. You can always eat later to recoup.

Solid advice, one has to strive for holding the balance between too much goodness and not enough -- and that line varies for each person, and it varies for each ride. Good guidelines, good starting point, but definitely not the last word, one has to find what works for _their_ body.

Awesome.
Love her heart & courage....
Marley, you are a badass! Keep on keeping on and crushing it
Excellent, congratulations! Drew.
So inspiring!!! You are amazing!!!
Inspiring
You're doing great work Marley...
Kudos! Well done!!
Truly an inspiration!! It's so great to see cyclist in all shapes and sizes!
Hell yes.
Thank you and awesome job!!!
Awesome, Marley!!!
❤ Yay Marley! ❤
Greetings from México City 🥑🌽🌵🌶🚲🙂.
Really hope 'big people' realize they can still do all the fun stuff. They just have to get out and do it. (Cycyling is an exceptionally good choice, as cyclist only care if you are riding, not the level of rider you are).
Make this the beginning of the journey not the end😀👍
Omg amazing 👏
seeing this for the first time i will hold my fire
Inspirational - Ride On!
Way to go, Marley! Question, though, was this recorded before you did STP last summer (which is two centuries a day apart....Seattle to Portland, for those who don't know about that event)?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
