We make the most of our time, and enjoy a number of different walks and experiences around Uluru and the spectacular Kata Tjuta. It is not until you are standing in the midst of these giants that you really get a perspective for just how impressive they are!
We camp off grid at the Ayers Rock Resort campground, spending our nights warming up around the campfire. Plus we enjoy the beautiful Field of Light experience, an amazing art installation in the desert, enjoy an outback cinema like no other and take in all the beauty of sunset over the rock while we cook up a delicious damper on the Weber.

Every summer gets the spectacular lightning storms in the Red Centre in the heart of Australia. Lightning storms are seen in Yulara by the Ayers Rock Resort and the Connellan Airport in Uluru - Kata Tjuta with common types of forked, chain, zig zag lightning and also seeing the anvil crawlers of lightning streaking across the sky during storms and the heavy rain falling on the surface of the desert. Lightning storms are fun to watch in the township of Yulara by the resort in Uluru - Kata Tjuta keep it safe during a lightning storm. The thunderstorm season starts in late spring and early summer all through out Australia. I love Australia and it is a beautiful country to visit.🇦🇺

Superb!!!!! What a superb episode Paul, Katie and Jasper. What a blessing Jasper is 💙. His input during this episode was very special - his whispering at Ayers Rock and his stone circle - fabulous, to name just two 💙💙. Your photography, videoing, editing, fun, cooking, travel info, family time, places, scenery are all amazing!! Thankyou for being so entertaining. What an incredible place. It’s the first time I’ve seen it in different ways, in a different dimension. Some people say it’s just a rock and boring but it looked so much more impressive than I’d imagined from your wonderful camera work. 🇬🇧👍😎🥰👏🏻💕💕

Hi again! This video brings back memories of almost 60 years ago when, in my last year of high school in the mid 1960’s, the school arranged a central Australian trip for us. We camped at the base of Ayres Rock, within easy walking distance. I enjoyed many areas around the base, and the climb. It was disappointing though to see a dotted white line from the top of the climb to the trig point at the summit. Undoubtedly this was to prevent people becoming lost and falling - the track was very twisty and up & down - not flat and direct. When visiting the Olgas we were left at a point - the Valley of the Winds? - to walk through the magnificent valleys. We got lost! We had to light a fire to create smoke to alert the bus driver and teachers as to our location and find a way out.

Oh my giddy Aunt. Your travels through the centre of this beautiful acountry are amazing! The colours of the outback are mindblowlingly rich to the eye. I cannot wait to get this part of of our amazing country. Your night sky captures are so beautiful, as always. Lovely editing, and drone work. It is also so lovely to see you travelling with your COVID hosts from Tassie. Your travels are definetly influening so many people to take that first step themselves and make their way around Australia and have a wonderfully memorable family travel experience. COVID does leave you with an uneasy feeling in the stomach with all the unknowns. We had bunkered down here in Queensland with the recent lockdown in Greater Brisbane and Townsville area and prepared to sit pretty for a 2 week period to see what happened. We are now back ont he road, travelling our slow intentional trip, but still keeping an eye on the COVID happenings. Stay safe, continue the amazing journey, and thank you for taking us along for the ride. ...and a big hello to the Merediths!

That said, we never leave our van unlocked no matter what time of day - while in Alice at a caravan park the people across from us had there mobiles & wallet stolen from inside their van at 1pm while hanging out their washing 20 meters away 😬 we would not be scared or fearful at all, just be smart, aware and keep everything locked up 👍👍 we can’t wait to get back, if you watch our other episodes around this one you’ll get some more advice on this!
