    We have not got it. And I needed much time and thinking why. Josh said in his stream he does not wanna have "beef" or something like that. But I think he realized that he was wrong. Jesse could take the topdeck gamble but that would get him to a similiar bad position. The only thing he could have done different is a bluff on a bystial himself, but he was not in a good position to do that and he needed to make the magnahut read.

    So, while the board state is complex, from my understanding it boils down to this: Jesse is dead to magnamut no matter what. And once he reached that conclusion he made the play that wins the game if the card isn't magnamut. Hani activating sulliek just changes the game from "If it's magnamut, jesse is 100% dead" to "If it's magnamut, jesse is 60-80% dead (depending on how many normals are left in Hanis deck)". But since jesse already decided to rule out magnamut as last card (because why think about playing around the card that kills you no matter what) he obviously went for the play that beats everything besides magnamut. Makes perfect sense

  • @TheSh1v
    @TheSh1v3 ай бұрын

    So basically, Hani using the sulliek was actually a mistake on his part, which gave Jesse the impression that it couldn't have been a bystial as Jesse was assuming he was playing optimally? Since a bystial beats him no matter what he does. Keeping the dweller on board would have allowed him to attack over the Merrli so the cryme was never going to resolve vs Hani's topdeck

    Why are people analyzing this game? Jesse played for 4 turns under dweller and his opponent last card dropped talents as well as droppig 2 Magnamuts, I think Jesse played out of his mind to even have a chance win this game, that isn't even taking into account the mental that it takes to come back after that horror show game 1 was for him.

  • @assumingfrog7944

    The real way to see if it was a misplay or not is to see how many draws Hani has that actually win him the game by looking at his graveyard. It's still up to chance, but you can still make am educated guess as to what the top deck will be.

    It’s obviously a very complex game state and I don’t think it’s really possible to say it’s either a mistake or correct. I think it’s clear hani made the wrong play as he should basically be winning from this situation regardless with magnamut. I dont think Jesse shouldn’t have crymed the sulliek though because the read should basically be a bluff or another sulliek in hand especially considering he didn’t fire the sulliek on his own turn targeting the mudora. In this case it’s better to simply let the sulliek resolve because if it is a tear and you cryme the reinoheart you get to kill both monsters and guarantee that the dharc will resolve and you get magnamut follow up plus the ability to elf if you want or get the dharc to either search or summon next turn if you don’t. Obviously when it’s not a tear you kind of have to sit on cryme but it at least gives you a decent shot at winning.

    All due respect whether or not he had a Tear in hand OR he got to keep the Sulliek, you should have waited to see if the Reino activates. If it does you negate it, if it doesnt, then your opponent now just voluntarily -1 and took out his own Reino which you needed to clear anyway. On top of that you would at that point have a better read on your opponents unknown card, knowing it 100% cant be a Tear now, instead of leaving room for doubt.

    So the premise is that Jesse loses to Magna in hand no matter what. Hani using sulliek to begin with (a misplay when he has Magna in hand) makes it so he has to top deck a normal summon that can kill Merrli if Jesse holds onto Cryme. If Hani doesn’t use Sulliek at all, Jesse 100% loses to Magna in hand after Hani’s last monster attacks over Merrli next turn regardless of the top deck. Sooo, knowing that Magna is an auto loss if Hani doesn’t use it at all, AND using it puts him in a topdeck position regardless, Jesse stops the sulliek because it makes any tear name a devastating topdeck that wins Hani the game by allowing him to fuse

    This was such a weird one because it’s not just gamestate evaluation - it’s player evaluation. In simpler gamestates, it’s very easy to say “if they had that card in hand, they’d keep it for x / would’ve used it on y earlier this turn”. But when things get complicated (with tear mirrors being the most extreme example), you can’t guarantee your opponent is playing things out the way you think they should. Here, it feels to me like Jesse having the correct reads was ultimately a detriment - those reads were made by evaluating a few of Hani’s plays that, in hindsight, were ever-so-slightly suboptimal - so the information Jesse gained was ultimately warped.

  • @huangjason4387

    in this gamestate, regardless of the read jesses play was most optimal, if hani did have bystial there was no play that could have won regardless

  • @ct1296

    @ct1296

    3 ай бұрын

    @@huangjason4387I’d have to look over it properly again, but I mapped this out when I saw the original video - the conclusion I think I came to was that if Jesse has the perfect read of bystial in hand and lets sulliek go, he at least has a chance to win with either topdecks or punishing misplays. If you fully believe it’s a bystial (which I don’t think is the logical read, even if it’s correct), you go to battle, clear the board, punch in and keep cryme live by just going to EP with the Merli + Saronir on board. Cryme checks the Bystial - it’s super telegraphed, so there’s a very good chance Hani’s opts to Magna in End Phase whilst Jesse is still under Dweller (he doesn’t know that Jesse doesn’t have a tear name in hand, so he probably doesn’t want to risk waiting until dweller wears off). Jesse is then up on shufflers (which check a significant amount of potential top-decks) and probably has the edge from there. There are other ways this pans out, but none of them decide the game that turn. Again, it’s not a misplay to work under the assumption the card in hand isn’t a Bystial - that goes back to the idea of confirmation bias. But unless I’m missing something, I think the game is still winnable.

  • @huangjason4387

    @huangjason4387

    3 ай бұрын

    @@ct1296 the problem is if its a bystial and hani top decks any ns able monster that has higher attack than merli (been a while since tear format but i believe majority of the deck is that), the cryme is basically dead with no value. since hani can just punch over merli, summon bystial - dharc etcetc. and having sulliek on the board would push the later turns largely in hanis favor too

  • @ct1296

    @ct1296

    3 ай бұрын

    @@huangjason4387it’s obviously not a guaranteed win but it’s still very much possible. Jesse being up on shufflers means Hani probably can’t immediately run away with it next turn, as preemptively shuffling before attacking plays into cryme pitching tear name, whilst post-battle Jesse can chain to shuffle any Dharc targets back

    This was a great video. Their analysis definitely is more surface-level and tbh it’s kinda to be expected when Josh is in streamer mode talking to chat in real time. I agree that your play is to respect the sulliek being live on field and cryme it there instead of waiting for Reino. The more interesting insight is that Hani “baiting” the Cryme with sulliek was actually a waste of his resources with Mag in hand.
