I think people really glossed over the fact that he was in the hospital with a 30% chance of survival a couple days after drivers license came out (he had some form of heart failure from sepsis and he's only 20) so that time would have been a lot for him. People love to pick a side and attack the other person but no-one knows what actually happened, so I think it's best to just see it as a break up and neither of them are necessarily bad people just because they didn't work out.

The worst thing is that he was close to not making it. Yet her fans kept being disgusting. Even said he said that to make it about him or whatever. I've only seen those comments on Tumblr posts and I was shocked at how disgusting most of her fans are towards him

I feel also bad for Olivia, she probably just wanted to Write music and didn’t want this drama but her stupid fans create fakes stories and search for so called „evidence“. To all the Olivia fans being nasty and rude please remember what you read and interpret can be wrong. Celebrity news is just gossip not truth. Josh should be left alone so should anyone involved. I think it's more about her not stopping the rumor mill that was created than her writing her songs about their relationship. They're both within their complete rights to tell their truths but when the drama grew and it affected him to the point of ending up in the hospital and whether it was her choice or her label's not to speak up about it, it left him feeling like she sacrificed their friendship and his mental health. Then again, this is my point of view and I don't know them or their feelings, but they're both young and songwriters and writing songs about their heartbreak is something they're very much free to do.

It’s always the label steering people into bad decisions before her album she was a practically not well known. neither was Joshua but I think it’s very sad. They are both young and impressionable. They steered by their teams for what’s in the „best interest of Olivia/ Joshua“. I think Olivia was told not to respond a common strategy used to attempt to curve drama and rumors. With a stupid line like „it’s better this way“ or something stupid like that.

See the thing is, I get that Olivia didn’t want to interfere with the issue and didn’t give any names or anything, but Josh was getting a lot of death threats and hate from her fans, she didn’t step in once and she never tried to stop it. She never said “don’t send hate to anyone” but Josh did say that, she might’ve not fed into the rumors and drama but she definitely did not try to help it at all.

I doubt that she wanted them to send hate. We never know what’s going on behind the scenes. Her team could’ve told her not to address the hate he’s getting. She’s 18 and very new to the industry. If I were a betting woman, I’d say she’s probably still in that phase of doing everything her label and managers tell her to.

i’m just gonna say this, both of them have labels, and almost 90% of the time labels will not allow the artist not speak out about things because they wanna profit off of this. Joshua’s label wanted him to release this almost immediately after sour came out.

This Ep is a three part story starting with Crisis and then Secret and then Set Me Free

Also I really want Josh to watch this, you said nothing but good things and I would love for him to see people appreciate his music this way

Oh man his songwriting here is so heartbreakingly good…the “dont you dare act like i didnt love you” is so simple but it gets me everytime Also the “my momma called cause she heard that I got death threats. Oh what the hell am i supposed to do with that?” Oh myyyyy😭

This whole EP is a lyrical masterpiece. It hurts in all the right places and if people weren't already sure of it before, like I was, I hope through this they finally see what an intelligent and incredibly talented artist Joshua is.

Not kidding, this song gave me chiiillls and I actually cried…. It felt sooooooo honest, the way he transmitted all those emotions and how he told his truth by delivering such an amazing song…. Wow. I really hope he is doing fine. All the hate he received, every single death threat… it was not ok… I hate that part of our society. At the end, I am very happy to see that he has grown so much as an artist, and we got to hear three exceptional pieces of art.

Both are totally free to write songs about whatever they want and I admire their vulnerability and talent. But when the songs you write create this sort of backlash that really does actual harm to another person, whether you are on good terms with the person or not, you have a responsibility to tell people "no. it is not okay to attack people. don't do this to anyone and certainly not on my behalf."

But really the point of her speaking out would be to show her fanbase and communicate to Josh that she doesn't condone it and that's not what she intended or wanted to happen. Whether those harassers would've listened or not, what Olivia says is important and it has affect.

@@itsmell89 I'm aware, but she never addressed the topic of the harassment specifically. Who the song is about and people "defending" her by sending hate and threats are two very different things. Look, I don't mean to go around in circles with this conversation, but when what you create has such a negative affect on someone you need to speak out. And I totally understand that that affect was completely unintentional, and she is one hundred percent allowed to write and sing whatever songs she wants to, but that doesn't change that it was a catalyst for all of these internet harassers. Olivia speaking out about it might have done a world of good or nothing at all, but being public with where she stands on the topic is important.

this music video of the song is shot in one take, and that is good economically, you don't need to buy so many cameras, to switch to different scenes. But also good environmentally, for you don't need to use more cameras than necessary.

The whole mini EP is so powerful. Raw and vulnerable and sad. Pointed. It really breaks your heart, it actually makes you realise the imbalance of voices in the story we’ve been listening to. I’m not saying she lied. It’s a story of hurting between two people, and every side in these stories views it in a different way, has their own truths, interprets the other side from their own perspective. She sang what she saw of it and that’s ok. But it got too big. So much bigger than almost any other story like this, and the distance between us and them makes you forget how complex and real this story is. We forget they were teens, messing up and hurting like this for the first time. So we make it a bidimensional narrative, and pick sides. Beyond that, fans can be, well, fanatical. Maybe she was hurting too much to ask for them to stop it, maybe she was advised to play the celebrity and stay silent, maybe a bunch of other things. But he was put in the limelight and lynched before people even knew him. He was too antagonised to speak up. Maybe he was scared to talk and not be believed, or to be accused of trying to steal her spotlight, maybe he didn’t even want to talk about it and just wanted this private, personal thing to become private again. But it never did. She is entitled to her hurt and and sorrow, but so is he. We aren’t owed the whole story, it’s their story, their lives. However, we do owe them respect and compassion and privacy. This past year was probably fucking hell to him.
