Joshua 1-2 - Skip Heitzig

After forty years of wandering in the desert, the Israelites prepared to enter the Promised Land. As we begin our study in the book of Joshua, we learn that though the Israelites had failed to trust in God's promises in the past, they were now ready to step out in faith and claim their covenant.
Joshua 1-2 from our study 06Joshua - 2017 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Albuquerque.

Immensely blessed by this message 😭Thank you for sharing, Pastor Skip. What a refreshing reminder that God doesn't look at our past in order to use us, but rather looks at our heart in the present and honors the amount of faith He sees ❤ Thank you, Lord, for being so loving and gracious ❤

Never heard of this Pastor before but his love for the Word of God is evident. Loved this message, I was searching for a series on Joshua because it's surprisingly hard to find. I'm reading Joshua currently and am excited to study the Bible for myself while at the same time watch these teachings.

Thanks Pastor Skip - Joshua 1:9 is one of my favorites - the Lord said to Joshua “be strong and courageous. Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” This is also very similar to Matthew 28:20 - not surprising since Jesus is God the Son. And like you said, God’s grace towards Rahab shows that He deals in futures - not in pasts!

Thank you Skip really enjoying the Scriptures with you. Just a few points about Rahab: She had a house on the wall, this is interesting as only wealthy people had a house on the wall, much sought after real estate. 2. The men knocked at the door and waited outside, they did not enter, very interesting, had she been just common harlot the soldiers would never have stayed outside but would have entered her house and searched it! This lady had contacts!!

I decided to tackle this after Acts. Since this book has numerous acts of genocide I wanted to see how Skip tackles it. The events took place sometime after the Bronze Age collapse when many cities in this region of the world were reduced and wiped out. (Archeology)

How do you understand God's instruction in Number 33? Drive Out the Inhabitants 50 And the Lord spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying, 51 “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan, 52 then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you and destroy all their figured stones and destroy all their metal images and demolish all their high places. 53 And you shall take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given the land to you to possess it. 54 You shall inherit the land by lot according to your clans. To a large tribe you shall give a large inheritance, and to a small tribe you shall give a small inheritance. Wherever the lot falls for anyone, that shall be his. According to the tribes of your fathers you shall inherit. 55 But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then those of them whom you let remain shall be as barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they shall trouble you in the land where you dwell. 56 And I will do to you as I thought to do to them.” Should Joshua 2 be read as ignoring God's command in Number 33? Or that command does not apply here? Is Number 33 central to Joshua 2 as Joshua's disobedience to allow this family to survive? There is no recording in Joshua 2 that God gave command to Joshua to send in spies. Hope to hear your responses on this. Thanks.
