Hi! I think if you put your mind to it you can do anything. Save some money, probably not much as it is very cheap to travel in Mexico and Central America. I was in Guatemala in 1993. I had $100 US when I crossed into Mexico from Texas. I traveled by bus to the Mexico/Guatemala border and did volunteer work in some Guatemalan refugee camps on the Mexican side, then went into Guatemala for 2 weeks. When I crossed back into Mexico I had $38 US dollars to get back to Minnesota on. I took a second class train all through Mexico. Then I hitchhiked from El Paso, TX back to Minnesota and still had $10 when I arrived in Minneapolis. That was 27 yrs ago ha! Really though I think you can go low budget and do a lot if you put your heart to it. Just my amateur view! Hasta Luego!

They don’t teach most this stuff in schools anymore.I love it when he gets so excited when something is found.I don’t see where he gets credit for finding stuff unless he dug it up himself.I love hearing about the history and learning about new information they discovered. I enjoy the traveling places I will never see or hear about otherwise .His shows are about practically everything and you learn about old and newly discovered information. So kudos to Josh.

AGREED!! 😳😣Acccck, my neural highways & sheaths are screaming for mercy! 😖😒It is nervewracking, not pleasantly heightening & enhancing my anticipation, which would have made the clip a pleasurable viewing experience, which I was expecting it to be because it is from "Discovery *UK* " . Americans tend to overdo ALL FX, on Audio they use the wrong sounds at ridiculous tempos & volumes. I won't even go into the atrocious visual FX and the absurd Camera gymnastics they slather on when they utilize them in vids, especially on American TV Reality Shows! (which I abhor with every fiber of my entire being) Thanx 👍 😀 for commenting about the Sound, I hate feeling like the only one who dislikes and objects to the atrocity. ✌Peace upon y'all!

Yes, but public knowledge is key to humanity understanding the truth of the world. Religious beliefs are just ancient ideas of how things work, in a time without scientific knowledge. We must learn from, and respect our past! Then we can fully understand who we are and where we come from.

Josh has caught quite a bit of paranormal evidence through the years with the Destination Truth team. Expedition Unknown is more about history's mysteries. The Search for the Yeti however did turn up a great track cast. That was a fantastic find. Other than that... you can't solve stuff like the legend of King Arthur lol. It's more like edutainment where as DT was legit paranormal/cryptid field investigations in some really epic locations. Keep in mind, Josh is an archaeologist so I'm sure he loves filming this show. He gets to see and experience things most folks will never see. He is also very likeable and funny so it makes for good tv. Im sure he will also be teaming up with TAPS again for their new show on Travel Channel.

This is NOT fake at alI. I'm Guatemalan and have visited many ancient sites such as Kaminal Juyu, Takalik Abaj, Zaculeu, Quirugua, Tikal etc. Spent some time watching the expert workers uncovering new areas and Peten building art was often covered by stucco and lime stone and looks exactly white washed and pristine like this after they take the sand and soil off with brushes. Mayans were so wealthy back then that even their sewer ditches had fine art sculptures on them. Frescos and wall relieves are often of such refined workmanship that they appear too clean and perfect for thousands of years old buildings. Calidá muchá! Utz pin, maltiox! 🙏 ✌ 💙 🇬🇹

After this special, they dug down a cavity and snaked a camera and still are fing older architecture beneath this complex. At Nabke, an even older site near El Mirador, they have found one of the earliest Maya sites possibly 1,200 BC, this is real early Maya timeline. At the El Pesquero ruins in the upper region of the Peten in Guatemala, they have found a pyramid with the huge carved stone head of the Principal Bird Deity possibly 700 BC. It's unbelievable how much they are finding in the last years. Guatemala is truly the birthplace of the Maya civilization.

In Turkey a place called Gobekli tepe has similar burial technique ( 9000 Years old)...They burried their family right underneath their sleeping area . They did so because they believed that they would be close to the spirit of their loved ones. I can see similarity .

What sticks out to me is the Mayan design motifs look remarkably similar to that of Shang Dynasty China. The way they represented clouds, the curlicues

DESDE ARGENTINA, SOMOS FAMILIA DE CIENTÍFICOS, DE HECHO MI HIJA MAYOR ES PRIMERO LICENCIADA Y LUEGO DOCTORA EN BIOLÓGICA, SU ALMA MATER ES FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS EXACTAS Y NATURALES, UBA. LA MISMA QUE EL PREMIO NOBEL MILSTEIN, CÉSAR EN CIENCIAS QUÍMICAS. EN EXACTAS TAMBIÉN ESTUDIÉ YO CIENCIAS QUÍMICAS, PERO CON UN MATRIMONIO DE CUATRO AÑOS VINO MI PRIMOGÉNITA Y ME DEDIQUE A MIS HIJAS. POR ESO CREO QUE TENGO UN POQUITO DE CONOCIMIENTO CIENTÍFICO PARA OPINAR HUMILDEMENTE QUE JOSH GATES ES UN GRAN DIVULGADOR CIENTÍFICO Y ES REALMENTE UNA PENA QUE NO SE PASE EN ARGENTINA.

You can go there and see for yourself. El Mirador is a two day hike through virgin jungle from the village at the end of the road. It is one of the coolest and most exciting archaeological tour one can take. It is not even very expensice and the local guides are well-trained to guide small groups to sites like El Mirador.

He's Dr. Richard D. Hansen, the senior archaeologist at the site for over 30 years. He's an amazing guy and along with his wife and daughter, even survived a plane crash in the Guatemalan jungle. He speaks with passion and eloquence about the Mayan people and I would love to hear him give a lecture about his work at El Mirador. I must admit I'm pretty disappointed in Discovery UK for not giving him the credit he deserves.
