What a pity that he passed away. Such a nice man! I did not know him although I am older than he was. Now I know, why he made no greater career because of his heart disease.

One Joe Shore that died 2021 had this info on a page I found with duckduckgo search engine: "Joe worked in the _grocery business for most of his life_ . He was the general manager at his family's store, Shore's Market in North Providenc" That does not sound likes this Joe, eh?

I agree with everything he said. I have sung opera for some years and I've always observed that the modern opera approach is unhealthy, not to mention horrible. May the old way be preserved!

@@dibujosinlimitesmp thank you for replying back to my comment. As a guy who’s in his mid 20s have a long way to learn how to sing Opera traditionally. And of course, I believe the old-school methods are superior compared to modern techniques when it goes to technical longevity.

The Library of Congress has countless sound recordings, including opera singers, stored . Ditto the Library & Museum of the Performing Arts in Lincoln Center, which a part of the New York library system .

as for the first part, you'll notice singers from 70 years ago like Eleanor Steber, Leonard Warren, Elena Obraztsova and Robert Merrill never made the kind of strange facial contortions you see in a lot of modern singers. half the time they look like either 1) a weight lifter who is about to drop the bar because they added too much weight (most often tenors, esp when they're trying to sing dramatic rep) 2) someone trying to do an impression of a gargoyle 3) a patient undergoing an amputation without anesthetic (there is a difference between being a good actor during a dramatic climax and singing the entire opera like you're suffering and about to fall over from someone sawing at your leg)

I do not like to do videos criticizing singers. I like to focus on individual aspects of singing. As it gets too complicated to talk about all the facets of an individuals singing. They are fine singers. But nothing special for me.

I agree with what he says about how to sing oper. However, he seems to have a bit of an elitist mentality towards basically all other types of music. One can have a long singing career singing as you speak in pop music, you simply adjust the balance of your air to accommodate. If I were to sing as I speak with the air pressure needed to sing on the Met stage, I'd blow my cords out! The issue comes when folks start teaching the sing as you speak manner as opera technic. Not sustainable!
