Joseph Ellis - First Family: John & Abigail Adams Part 2

How essential to the establishment of the United States of America was the Adams Family? Who is the indispensable Founding Father? Pulitzer prize winning historian Joseph Ellis discusses his book First Family.
The first author ever interviewed on Books of Our Time, Joseph Ellis, returns to the program to discuss with Dean Lawrence R. Velvel the enormous impact of the Adams family on the creation of the United States and why we will never see their type of leadership again.
Ellis discusses the marriage and letters of John and Abigail Adams, the accomplishments of John Quincy Adams, how Adams differed from Washington and Jefferson, and about his work in the Continental Congress as well as in the Presidency. Mr. Ellis also discusses George Washington, whom he believes to be the only indispensable Founding Father, from his book ; His Excellency - George Washington.
Mr. Ellis is a Professor of History at Mount Holyoke College and the recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for History in 2001.
The Massachusetts School of Law also presents information on important current affairs to the general public in television and radio broadcasts, an intellectual journal, conferences, author appearances, blogs and books.
