One thing that got lost in the dub is Date’s relationship with Kagami actually. In the dub he genuinely doesn’t remember Kagami’s name sometime (1:00 where he has to think a second) while in the original, Date does remember Kagami’s name and usually ask for his name in a playful tone (‘Hey friend, what’s your name?’). Which is why the comment somewhere that said that Kagami and Date must be friends who improvise it everytime they meet is actually closer to canon than they thought.

another note regarding this, when Date says "It was something to do with glass", that's because kagami means mirror in Japanese, but if you don't know that you'll just have no idea what he means

It really nails the balancing act of being incredibly over the top and goofy while simultaneously having a compelling story and characters that you get invested in. It doesn't ALWAYS work, but it definitely does it better than most.
