Savall can make any instrument sing, even a slack skinned old rubab that's missing all its sympathetic strings. Sublime. The players were wonderful, and the performance magical.

Magical, astonishing, ravishing, sublime talent like I have never seen before. It’s lifted me up and it’s absolutely life enhancing. My thanks to the post owner and to Jordi Savall and each and every person performing here. I’m blown away and I’m hooked forever🌹

I discovered Jordi Savall and Hespèrion XXI on KZread. Not a bad time to be alive. I wish I could attend a concert and hear this music up close.

The percussionist (Pedro Esstevan) is such a key musician and the sounds he can evoke from the large drum are astonishing. When the entire orchestra is in full sway, he is the icing on the cake.

I loved this concert! 💖 Magnificent tribute to his wife. I suspect she was there listening, very touched by it and very grateful to all musicians participating. Jordi will be royally welcomed by her when the time comes. 🎶

Pedro is a such a great & skilled medieval percussionist; & almost always I see him playing w/ Jordi!

Thanks for making this glorious performance possible for us to watch. It’s one thing to listen to this music on a recording but a totally different thing to actually see Maestro Savall and his colleagues perform it. I’m in music heaven.

@@mothratemporalradio517 check everything from Norayr Kartashyan, he plays all possible woodwinds, including duduk, chanter for bagpipes (like chalmey), armenian bagpipes and blul (armenian version of ney/kaval). I'd recommend you Miqayel Voskanyan, he plays tar (it's a string instrument), Katil band (son of Kartashyan plays there). If you check the last videos of Bambir (it's a folk rock band, current musicians are the sons of founders), there is a qanon playing girl named Mar Margaryan.

@@Turabyashka Brilliant, thank you. My eyes have gone achy so i will keep my reply brief for the timebeing but i really appreciate all those suggestions! I also dig the qanon (as distinct from the cult QAnon, haha). I've got out my pencil as i've only got the net on a mobile phone and am about to jot all these down in my diary to follow up and search for diligently later. I won't be surprised if i plunge down a rabbit hole of amazing music. Much appreciated! May i please ask where in Armenia you are from? I am in Sydney, Australia. Cheers! 🎼🍻

AlysounRI You are 100% correct! I was blessed to see Maestro Savall and his colleagues perform much of this music in a live concert. It was fantastic! I’ll never forget the passion, the energy and the soul that these men brought to the music. I had chills going up and down my spine and tears in my eyes because the music was so beautiful. It was an experience that my husband and I will never forget. I also got to meet and visit with Savall. He is so humble, gracious and has a great sense of humor.☺️🎵
