    I have listened to almost everything Jordan Peterson has ever put on KZread and podcasts. My observation is that ideologically possessed people cannot understand what Jordan is communicating because they have not/will not learn to look at an issue through a psychological lens. How many times does he have to remind people that he’s not coming at these issues politically? Really though, how can you get to any type of truth by applying political logic whether right or left leaning?

    They have been teaching these people that their emotional feelings and reactions are more important than truth and facts today. They don't seem to understand that whenever we're hurt emotionally we have the opportunity to use that experience to strengthen ourselves. To many of those people want to live in a delusional world and force everyone else to live in that world with them regardless if they are right or not.

    The legal expert specifically attacked everyone who doesn't view everything from an ideological perspective by calling those people the mushy middle. It's a simple but dishonest tactic, divide the viewpoints into extreme left, extreme right and and everything inbetween then discount everything in between as being irrelevant or siding with the 'wrong' view point. In this case agree with everything we say or you're a transphobe.

    Because politics carry an agenda and if you do that then as a far leftist/rightist you can't use a framing mechanism to morally arbitrate every little offense, then you lose any leverage you would've had if you had any objective measure and sensibility. Therefore you have to demonize reasonable people to elevate your radical viewpoints and make them palatable for the mainstream.

    My grandfather was a cherokee associate chief and loved the Chiefs. He also never had any problem with the Redskins. I believe and he took it as being named to honor said people. And since when the name change came up they went with Commanders instead of something like Warriors or such means that they did it to erase the original honor that was bestowed to the people to begin with. Imagine if they renamed the Vikings because assuming all nordic peoples wear raiders. And the named them the Blackbirds instead of Jarls or something.

    When I was a Democrat and I was firmly on the plantation. Of course I didn’t realize I was firmly on the plantation. I never had anyone try to subvert or ban my speech. I could freely express my opinion and nothing was ever challenged. Now that I have left the plantation and moved to the right I’m constantly critiqued and my free-speech is hampered routinely. I have been attacked into many ways to enumerate. What’s really funny is a lot of the positions I take have not changed. Just the people I support. People that have the exact same position on many of these issues that I have and that I had as a Democrat.

    I’ve listened to this clip of this kid questioning JP many times. I now realize how absolutely correct he is that the biggest threat to free speech is it’s polarization. Because if only one political group defends free speech at a time then it’s not a fundamental principle and it will always be under attack. I’ve also realized how crucial the Christian world view is to the peace, stability and prosperity in the west. There are cultures that believe in punishing the relatives of the guilty, or that believe that NOT seeking revenge is a sin or cultures that believe human life does NOT have intrinsic value. So many fundamental beliefs we share are automatic and taken for granted, not knowing that they are NOT automatic everywhere and without them war and chaos reign. We are treading on extremely dangerous territory as all of these fundamental beliefs and principles are indeed under assault.

    That kid is being purposefully dishonest. What appears to be polarization is not. The woman in this video said it. its all fake. The left is not nor have they ever been for free speech. They have always been for their speech. The left is not anti war. The left is anti war with other communists. The polarization is an illusion because they don't actually hold the positions they claim. they hold whatever position is beneficial to the gain of power. This nonsense where leftists point to the right? Those are the most dangerous people. They most likely are aware of exactly what they are doing.

"well, not Okay..." I wish I were younger and had the opportunity to take his classes when he was still instructing. Alas, we're about the same age and come from the same area in northern Alberta. He's a great ambassador for Canada and I haven't given anyone else that distinction since my hero John Candy was still with us. He is a fair, just, very intelligent astute man.

    People do that same damn thing all the damn time when they bring up arguments. You debunk them and they simply say “okay” and move on as though their entire argument wasn’t built on the foundation of their first assumptions. Not knowing or admitting that their entire premise has been proven false by the first point they can’t make.

  • @HH-ru4bj
    @HH-ru4bj2 жыл бұрын

    "so you've done this..." No I haven't! "Well ok." No not well ok?! By this point he's made two instances where he's mistaken and inserted his own perception of Peterson and and accused him of saying and doing something which seems that it has significance to the question he might eventually ask. For one no one likes to be accused of things they hadn't done, and second since that student just tries to abandon that point to move one suggests he doesn't care if he even has a sturdy foundation for his position. I would be pretty upset with someone if they misrepresented me and didn't care if they were wrong too. It's just disrespectful both to you and to themselves because they can't even respect what the truth might be. You can't respect those kinds of twits that can't even defend their own position but expect you to defend a position that you don't have.

    @@HH-ru4bj Oooh yea, same here. I'll cut someone off immediately, especially if it's somebody close to me, if they're setting a horrible foundation for their argument. It's a much better solution to address it on the spot, and continue from a good foundation, than going down some crazy rabbit-hole that has no resolution, and all done mostly for the sake of avoiding the argument in the first place. It can be a bit maddening at times, if you let it be, that's for sure. Lewis Carroll type behavior. But that's where we just gotta apply our value system: "Is this person worth the time?" lol And great point, that kid was very self-indulgent with his time. JP was very considerate here, despite the evident frustration. I'd be tapping my foot and checking my watch behind him like, "AHEM!...". 😆

    When someone brings up the topic of hate speech, I always ask them to define hate speech. They never can. The scariest definition I heard was from someone who said that they considered anything to be hateful if it directly opposed their beliefs. HUH? Seriously? That person had a severe case of… IDK… narcissism?

    That's something to be thankful for. Not knowing how to define hate speech. I sat through a workplace harassment seminar one time. When defining harassment she said, it doesn't matter what anyone tells you. You know when you are being disrespected. Not the same context but it could be the same as far as recognizing hate speech, which is about fear. "You know when you are being threatened."

    Hate Speech , IS Free Speech ! That's just how it is- People have to realize and accept that. Just because "you're offended, doesn't mean that you are right" Now, with that being said,, you are also, ultimately responsible for the repercussions, from said speech. The most important fact to know is that : Who and What determines, ultimately, what is 'hate speech' ? 🤔 *All Speech IS Free Speech*

Hate speech is about fear, not being offended. The coward who left the noose in Bubba Wallace's garage, committed a hate crime. Bubba wasn't afraid. The people around him were. An associate called the police. Legally that is a death threat. Know why? People do NOT have to put up with your s#!$. Who told you that? The government has to let you shout in the streets. I'm open to hearing viewpoints from all sides as long as they are actually truthfully answering the questions and using facts. Neither of the two women who spoke actually addressed the question that was asked. They just took the opportunity to defame Jordan Peterson. I'm from the "Live and let live" camp but I'm deeply concerned by how many people are eagerly giving up freedoms left and right to try to ensure no one on earth is ever offended. It's an impossible goal. The more rules they force on society, the more they find new things to be offended by, until we have no freedom to speak, think, or act of our own volition. People who purposely call a person "he" when they've been repeatedly told they prefer to be addressed as "she" are jerks. There will always be jerks. We can't change all of society and police everyone's speech and make people too afraid to even interact with each other because they might say something that will offend someone just because of the jerks of the world. The more the left tells us we aren't even allowed to discuss any questions or concerns we have over their dictates on how we need to behave, the more the majority of people will start to rebel against it. The right for people to say what they think will always be a thousand times more vital to a free society than your "right" to not hear something that offends you.
