He is doing great, and I know from experience, the difficulty to intellectualize and communicate while your brain is healing from benzo withdrawal, is absolutely terrifying and so hard. I can hear it in his voice, I absolutely respect this man for having the courage to build himself back up, because it absolutely feels like a swimming through a sea of anxiety and fear.

One thing that Jordan does in interview is brilliant. When he is about to make an extended point, he will say something like "..and you can tell me what you make of this..." That makes the other person sit back and listen harder, and tend to not interrupt because they want to look insightul in their reply. I need to do that more.

It’s actually a REALLY bad habit Dr Peterson has. When he says “and you can tell what you think of this” it’s him showing self consciousness about the fact that he knows he should ask a question or stop talking. He’s self aware enough to know he’s being a bad conversationist, but he doesn’t have the humility self control to actually stop. He does the exact same thing as a host, and there are entire episodes where he just steamrolls kind, interesting, guests who his audience, like myself, would love to hear!

Does make me wonder how bad an influence it is, when the examples we're shown of how to behave - when it's not outright scripted - is a bunch of people who trained their whole lives to combine peddling ideology, serving their party and lying. Either in settings where they talk in an echochamber, or where they scream to make sure the other guy can't get a comprehensible message out. Do we merely watch the stupid theatre, or do we at some level start thinking that's how grownups are supposed to act?

Two gentlemen, wildly different lives, lifestyles, and viewpoints, and still manage to make jokes and be friends. This is how we learn to live together in peace. By realizing that not everyone will share your views on how to live, and that's perfectly ok. It's ultimately what our country is about. Freedom to live how you want. And when we disagree we realize that the most important thing is not who's right, but how we treat each other. These two have EARNED the definition of gentlemen.

The positive use of the term "gentlemen" is lost in our current generation. A true gentleman was manly. yet well mannered and well read. Many men of my generation strove to embody those ideal. If you would like to witness, firsthand, the state of manners and civility in the U.S., Go to a Wal-Mart on a Saturday and cut ahead of someone in line. What we witnessed on this podcast is an excellent example of two gentlemen having a relaxing conversation on topics that demand an extensive knowledge base. Then Jordan says he’s never lost passion for his wife, and he embraces her in total love all of the time… then there’s an awkward pause… I think that’s one of the most wholesome conversations I’ve ever seen between a contrast of people. Jordan's ever so gently providing therapeutic insight. You can even hear it in his voice when Jordan says, 'Well, Bill, you know this,' making it easier for Maher to accept something he doesn't want to accept. It shouldn't come as a surprise if there was a big overlap considering they are both moderate, reasonable people who simply don`t shy away from the truth, much like most of society for that matter.

As someone who had a son when I was 19, I was extremely underprepared to raise my son in regards to dealing with his childhood experiences. The discussion here about raising children, as well as Dr. Peterson's chapter 'Rule 5: Do Not Let Your Children Do Anything That Makes You Dislike Them' have really helped open my eyes on what I may have done sub-optimally in raising him. I would love for Dr. Peterson to put out a book on raising children, highlighting key stages of development and how best to curb behaviors before they spiral into something much worse at a later age.

Well yeah, Bill can't imagine true love for anyone except himself. You can hear it in every conversation about relationships or marriage. He probably jerks off to himself in the mirror lol

It might not apply to 100 percent of the cases, but it applies for the greater majority. When closing on the marriage deal, which lasts for life, you're taking a sketchy gamble if you're looking for passionate sex 20 years into your marriage.

If those are your kids in the profile pic, then your premise checks out. But seriously, that passion relies on a partner who hasn't been with lots of partners. An XX who has been with lots of partners has lost the ability to pair bond which would make seggs more than just an animal act. Since men don't bond with the same hormones, the same effect doesn't apply to us. We don't quickly bond so we can only really bond with someone we're with more than once and who we actually enjoy hanging out with more than just for seggs.

These 2 should have a conversation like tgtis every season. The world could become much better through their example of civil exchange of ideas. Bravo Fellas.

A case study on how interviews/discussions should be-- You let your guest talk. You don't try to one up, look for gotcha moments or other nonsense. You just talk, listen and see where the conversation goes. This was great.

You were either high, or watching a completely different interview. Bill Maher was CONSTANTLY interrupting JBP and didn't let him complete a single thought. It got so bad that at 1:06:45 he actually rubs his face in frustration. If you want to see what a REAL interview of JBP looks like with a prepared interviewer who's actually done his research, watch this masterpiece: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d2qlpNqnj8usdLQ.html - Jordan Peterson's Philosophy of "How to be in the World" distilled down to its 5 strongest points.
