Society is heading for a cliff like a runaway train. It's OK, history has showed us this plenty of times before so nothing to worry about.

I pity the poor bugger, who has to re-educate Peterson.

Yes. I imagine it'll be a case of drawing the short straw. I'd love to be a fly on the wall.

If an institution becomes political, it should lose all other accreditation and recognition. That is one way in which we can reel back democracy.

And they pick on Peterson, but how many whacky treatment programmes are there out there by licensed psychologists and such, that ARE harmful to people, that go completely ignored by the governing bodies. The only reason Peterson's copping it, is because he a stand out figure in the social media world, and has large audiences of people. This makes him a threat to the 'Regime' running the show now.

Bang on analysis. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think Canadians like myself would lose their freedom.

Like the vaccine mandates. They didn't infringe our rights to bodily autonomy because you could still choose not to get vaccinated. (Just as long as you didn't mind losing your job.)

Peter Ridd and Bob Carter know full well the punishment for not obeying ridiculous groupthink. It’s a disgrace that simply having a different opinion can ruin your career, especially in scientific and medical professions.

Professional bodies tend to get captured to some extent. Some meddle in politics a bit much, like law groups supporting the Voice when only mostly retired judges expressed some opposition as their careers would not be threatened. One only needs to follow the money to find people reflecting the opinion of the funders and the networks behind them.

I have the highest regard for Peterson and enjoy his discussions, same for Peter, but if you play the game the Rules is the Rules. Get them changed if they're unhelpful to the sport but no point in arguing with the Ump and getting another 50m penalty. Peterson has done more than anyone since Freud to lift the profile of psychology and deserves encouragement and support for not playing the group think mind games in the mind games trade. His crime was subjective (thought pschotos would know better) Peter, with respect appeared (with justification) to breach an employment contract, closer to a speeding ticket - more clear cut. In both cases however the ""learned"' bodies involved simply displayed their narrowness of outlook and intolerance. How much more professional and grown up in both cases for the institutions to say - hang on does this irritant have a point we should be addressing?

Ultimately, fostering an environment of open dialogue and respect for differing viewpoints is key to progress in any field. Institutions should strive to engage with criticism constructively, rather than dismissing it outright. This approach can lead to growth and improvement for all involved.

I was worried when I saw the title; Peterson is far from principled. However, it seems his critics have over played their hand.

He harassed and acted unprofessionally on social media on many occasions. It's really not a huge deal to make him take some social media lessons. But go off transphobe and baselessly go against the mountains of research wr have on trans issues.

Read the Cass Report? Comment didn’t age well. For example “In summary, the evidence does not adequately support the claim that gender affirming treatment reduces suicide risk”. (Cass report, page 187)
