But it's because of the cultural difference - on US or Canadian TV, the most important factor, ultimately, is time. So the selection and training of TV personalities, and their goals, are different; there is no time to explore anything in depth, it's all about getting the most interesting points (preferably scandalous ones) out before the time break. To be clear, I am not saying that the Brits are smarter, or more likely to be factually and/or logically correct. They may be - and from what I can see, quite often are - just as wrong, but their position is still more elaborate and sophisticated.

I've noticed that ever since the Cathy Newman interview, the media in the UK will no longer have Jordan Peterson interviewed by one person. It is now always two-on-one or three-on-one. Therefore they can't make themselves look like an idiot anymore. Because now there will always be someone to immediately jump in and change the subject to cover for the other persons argument being destroyed by Peterson.

This show is always a panel, and never a panel biased in one direction. Wright is left leaning (but quite reasonable and open to discourse and shown here), Sophie is a left wing nut job and the guy on the end was quite clearly an old fashioned conservative. I wouldn't use this as an example

Cathy is not a victim she was just outclassed in by Jordan at one point he had to slow his pace down to let her catch up. It was a brilliant lesson in thinking for yourself rather than just falling back on the generic cliches.

He questions the feminist orthodoxy: he says that we have equality of opportunity (which we do) but that attempting to control equality of outcome is never going to work, because we are individuals and will decide for ourselves. If I, as a woman, want to be an engineer; nothing stops me, nothing prevents me except myself and the fact I am not good enough at maths. Should they lower the criteria for me? No, I'd rather we had engineers who were properly qualified than have equality of gender at the risk of lowering expectations. Would I like more women in stem? Yes, if they choose to be. And that belief runs contrary to modern feminism.

I love how he shut down that female's agenda, and her false accusations, straight off the bat! Beautifully done!

Absolutely agree. That is a highly questionable strategy I seem to witness a lot when Peterson is confronted. They never discuss actual content, they only rave about 3rd parties reacting to Peterson, something he obviously has no say in.

You're right but bear in mind, these alleged death threats were only claimed, no evidence was produced to verify her claims. As is usual in these cases, when the left leaning person loses an argument, as Cathy Newman clearly did, they try to frame themselves as the victim in some way, thus undermining the opponents comments or beliefs.

It reminds me of Hillary Clinton's blathering about "a massive right-wing conspiracy". Sure, there are SOME left-wing nut-balls in SOME university departments (such as sociology, psychology, gender studies, anthropology) at SOME universities. But most professors just teach their subject and most students just want to get good grades, go to a good grad school, and eventually make lots of money and buy lots of stuff. I'd say that's about 95% of the people involved. Look at it this way - the 'humanities' subjects where Peterson encounters all these "Maoist" intellectuals - what proportion of the universities do they make up? Not very much. Is Peterson really saying that the freaky left-wing Postmodernists have also taken over all the other faculties, like civil engineering, computer science, medicine, law, mathematics, physics, geology, accounting, aeronautical engineering, architecture, business and management, chemistry, dentistry, German, and town planning? I mean, get real!

Long ramble version: a common human failing- consciously or unconsciously avoiding anything that might question your easy, favored, explanation about the universe- we all like to feel in control, safe, and efficient (lazy). In other words: they don't actually watch enough un-edited JBP to learn what he's really truly about; they only go along with what others say (due to yet another human failing- tendency to want to fit in with the group, or get along with what others around you are doing/saying, even if you know it is nonsense- you avoid finding out for sure so that you can feel "cool" because you are also "in the know" about that thing which you do not actually know much about (you pretend to know about it by using the sound-bite-style summary you heard from somewhere), and get a nice little ego-boost; feeling a bit more important/special that way.

Daedalus this happens too often though. Watch 15 mins of Peterson and, as a professional, they should know better and more. Either they are terrible at their job or there is a narrative because this was pretty embarrassing and to arm yourself incorrectly is one thing but to arm yourself with similar tools as the previous loser (Cathy Newman) is incompetent and very coincidental. Always love how people that comment their appreciation of Peterson often make the disclaimer I am neither left or right. What’s the problem if you are left or right? It doesn’t mean you can’t critically examine his statements and decide upon agreement when there’s agreement and highlight a difference of views if there are any. Most people aren’t entirely left or right but compose some sort of amalgamation therein, but to say I don’t subscribe to the left or right is highly suspect. If that is the case, I wish they would stop trying to shield themselves for potential unfair criticism and simply stand by your convictions.
